Ten years ago today Scalia died, and McConnell immediately said he wouldn’t let Obama fill the seat. Dems said and did nothing; the media treated it as normal politics. No one treated it as a crisis. I believe historians will view this episode as one of the key moments of our descent into fascism.

i believe in occam's razor. the simplest, most obvious response is that the game is being thrown on purpose. the other explanations are too tortured and absurd.

Okay but what if Trump was personally criticizing you as an official act in his capacity as president?

NBC News@nbcnews.com

Chief Justice John Roberts says that personal criticism of judges is dangerous and urged prominent figures to dial down the rhetoric, days after President Trump launched his most recent broadside against the Supreme Court.

Pundits: if Trump ever directly defied a supreme court order then it would have to be characterized as a constitutional crisis Trump: *directly defies order* Pundits: What to make of Trump’s bold tariff gambit? It depends who you ask.

There doesn’t have to be a conspiracy around what Epstein was saying in these emails because the reality is that sexual violence is enabled at every level of society, so he had no reason to hide what he was doing. The government, the powerful, even many in the media knew the truth

If you want to know what people mean when they say Democrats are "controlled opposition," rather than whipping votes against ICE funding, Hakeem Jeffries struck a deal with Republicans to allow Democrats to feign outrage at ICE while still funding the spending package.

If every Democrat voted NO on funding ICE, it would not have passed the House. But, 7 House Democrats voted to fund Trump's lawless, masked goons, so it passed. Hakeem Jeffries refused to whip his members to vote against ICE funding. Genuinely unforgivable.

Oh, thank god! They‘ve sent a letter!

Looks like Senator Blumenthal's office worked with the whistleblowers, and has already put out a letter to the Trump admin demanding answers. Congress MUST act. This is a five alarm fire for our basic rights under the law. bsky.app/profile/blum...

Tiresome to keep repeating it a full decade into Democrats giving Nazis power to commit Nazi atrocities but: The government must be shut down permanently until this Nazi criminal is gone, and Democrats who refuse to go along with this should be afraid to leave their homes.

hey remember when a bunch of middle-aged drunk korean lawmakers climbed the locked gates to the national assembly to hold an emergency session after the president gave illegal orders to the military, all of which ended with said president being sentenced to prison

I don't understand this or the daily Bluesky posts re how we'll have new Nuremberg Trials after Trump. Trump committed unprecedented atrocities in his first term; Biden forgave him and his leading Nazi cohorts. Not a single 2028 Democratic Presidential contender has vowed to do what needs to be done

After yesterday’s surrender, we’re launching the largest Democratic primary program that we’ve ever run. We will not back any Senate primary candidate unless they call for Schumer to step down as Minority Leader. If you’re as pissed as we are, join this campaign to rebuild the Democratic Party. 👇

We stand on the precipice of fascism. The Republican Party is dead serious about one-party fascist rule, and the Democratic Party is dead serious about not really trying to stop them. Any chance we have of escaping fascism is entirely on us.

Nancy Pelosi declined to seek war crimes charges for Bush admin criminals, and she had to be pushed to impeach Donald Trump. Meanwhile, she made tens of millions of dollars on insider stock trades. I’d celebrate her departure if her seat weren’t being filled by her nepo baby daughter.

This is the stuff we need way more of: simple, non-violent acts of refusal to submit to fascism.

They could have perp walked Trump, multiple times, for multiple offenses. They could have convicted him in the Senate, as a bipartisan majority of senators voted to do. When you decide not to pursue justice, this is the result.

New reporting from MSNBC and @kendilanian-nbc.bsky.social: A source familiar with the matter confirms an FBI agent in the Washington field office has been fired for refusing to arrest and perp walk James Comey. Comey is being allowed to surrender for booking at his arraignment next week

On February 13, 2016 I sounded the alarm on our democracy. That’s when Mitch McConnell said he wouldn’t let Obama replace Scalia and the Democrats didn’t immediately treat it like the constitutional crisis it was. Nobody listened, but I was right.

Sustained mass protest is and has always been our only way out of this. I’m talking about tens of millions in the streets, sweeping general strikes, and so on. Every day we count on the Democratic Party to save us from fascism is a day we will slip further into fascism.

You are up to date.
