A reminder - before Trump, MAGA, Musk and Fox rewrote history - that this is what the entire country agreed had happened five years ago today:

SNAP has existed for 60 years. Benefits have gone out every single month over those six decades, including during government shutdowns. Until now. Make no mistake: The money is available to fund SNAP during this shutdown. Trump is making a choice to withhold it. Don’t forget this.

You’ve seen this movie before: Maybe Reagan guessed, Bush hoped, and Trump tried—but tax cuts never paid for themselves. Given the mountain of evidence, claiming once again that "tax cuts will pay for themselves" is no longer ideologically motivated optimism. It's a lie.

Our mighty military hardware – revered and feared by nations all! – assembled in the capital, parading by the Mall. But the whole “Dear Leader” vibe really casts a pitiful pall. It screams: His daddy didn’t love him and his d*ck is really small.

This is a great point I hadn’t considered: Trump is asking for shared sacrifice (economically speaking) from the same folks who refused to wear masks and get vaccinated for the greater common good during COVID. His base is comprised of me-first chuds.

New in PN: Trump demands wartime sacrifices. Good luck with that. "Any sense of 'shared sacrifice' is inconsistent with the selfishness at MAGA's core. Worse, Trump sold voters on what was supposedly in it for them, with fantastical promises to lower prices & create jobs from long-dead industries."

It’s still hard to believe the simple fact that this is all self-imposed. Everything that’s happening right now wasn’t the result of some foreign adversary destroying the country. We did this all to ourselves by electing the dumbest motherfucker to ever rule a nation.

The markets are crashing, we can't afford eggs anymore, the economy is shrinking, our allies are abandoning us... But we'll always have the Gulf of America.

It's almost funny to watch Starmer and Macron, in their own way, fact check this chuntering moron, to little effect. Truth means nothing to him. He engineers his own crybaby reality.

Trump repeats claim that European nations get money donated to Ukraine back. And Starmer explains that we don't, it's mostly gift aid, not a loan

Repeating myself, but the idea of Trump & Musk as "masculine" remains bizarre. They're just the toxic and immature parts with none of the traditional "masculine" virtues. They're whiny, entitled, unreliable, dishonest, self-absorbed, never take responsibility, never put duty over self-interest, etc.

I mean, Jesus Christ, can you people even *hear* yourself? I'm about to die of secondhand embarrassment just reading this crap.
