Okay, I finally put some thought into this, and all I've got is that I really hate having to boil my life down into a blurb.

Times have been tough in this Ohio town ever since the woke mob closed the old Cheesecake Factory. So when Vivek Ramaswamy promised to legalize child rape, they finally had something to cheer about again. But then Obama said something elitist.

This is literally the end of the rule of law. If a President can pardon people committing crimes on his behalf - and the Supreme Court says he himself can't be prosecuted for crimes committed as part of his job - then the government becomes a lawless entity able to violate our rights without limit.

That it'll fail because they lack sufficient consolidation and centralized control does not make it trivial that the president of the United States is trying to steal elections and produce an illegitimate sham Congress. It is open rebellion against the Constitution and morally tantamount to treason.

I am famously (because I keep repeating it) an American-Israeli Jew, and I feel it's important to note that yes, "74,000" is a largely magic number. "Magic" because 1) round numbers always are 2) Israel always lies about casualties 3) we still don't know how many bodies remain under the rubble

I didn't know he was British when I originally watched that in the 2000s. And, looking back, that is a really remarkable scene. Perfect "American trying to sound British" accent.

AOC is propagating dangerous nonsense about MAHA: That it’s “not partisan,” driven by legitimate concerns. No. Stop it. It’s a form of extremism that stands in a long tradition of paranoid conspiracism on the Far Right, channeling vague grievances into a radical project. I spelled this out here:

I like AOC, but this is an incredibly bad analysis of the MAHA movement.

So much for quietly sitting out the US midterms by hanging out in Europe huffing the last fumes of social democracy.

Dolly uses some great blue notes in the chorus melody to "9 to 5." The tune is in F#. On the word "nine" in "workin' nine to five", she's singing a clear A-natural over B7 chord. But on the second syllable of "livin'" in "what a way to make a livin'" she is right in the crack between A and A-sharp.

It’s worse than this. Having been in the room with many of them (long ago, before I knew they were psychopaths), the tycoons who are left running the industry have an active contempt for ordinary people, including their own workers. They actively want to oppress, control and punish them.

Hi hello I was going to do a full thread on the Great American State Fair later but it seems I'm starting early: why in the fuck are PragerU, Patriot Academy, and other far right groups the ENTIRETY of the Department of Education booth

I hope the poor bastards being scapegoated for this have someone like this as an expert witness at their trials. That's if their cases aren't dismissed before getting that far.

Mechanism and updated prediction for the epic fail of Lincoln Memorial Bioreactor's polyurea coating! First chemistry, then physics It was sprayed in big sections. In addition to pool edges, failure will concentrate at the OVERLAP SEAMS between sections because they likely barely bonded at all. 1/x

They're using Rhino Pipeliner 5000, which freezes as sprayed-on curds almost exactly as it hits the surface. Won't flow out, flatten, and self-level like standard epoxy or paint would. Under standing water, the orange peel texture is a perfect scaffolding for algae, bacteria, and general bio scum

We fucked up big time. We didn't scour the Shire.

Steve Zorowitz@stevezorowitz.bsky.social

After the hobbits defeat Sauron, the book doesn’t end. They have to go back and “scour the Shire”. We didn’t do that the first time; we damn well better next time.

If I were DNC chair, here’s what I would do in the first 60 days: 1) Fire all of the vendors and “consultants.” Whatever the DNC is paying them for, cut it off. 2) Restructure the DNC into two branches: branch A is intra-party operations, branch B is communications and direct voter contact.

repeating this, for no particular reason...

One of the "norms" that Trump will eventually disregard is the "we never actually use any of these nuclear weapons we have lying around" norm. Bookmark this.

🧵 Democracy feels like it's in a rough state at the moment across the globe, and we hear various explanations, like polarisation, extremism, disinformation, and loss of trust. But what if those explanations are mainly symptoms and we've been trying to treat them rather than the underlying causes?

Given Trump’s Easter threats to carry out new war crimes in Iran, we should think one or two steps ahead about a coup attempt connected to the war. And then deter it. (1/17)

This 💯 The 25th is not a realistic option with a president who can still put pen to paper. It's a heavier lift than impeachment.

Jacob T. Levy@jacobtlevy.bsky.social

The 25th Amendment process isn't for "crazy." It's for "comatose." And it's not easier than impeachment. It's harder.

A growing list of countries, including NATO allies, have refused to let the US use their bases or airspace for the war on Iran, or have identified it as illegal under international law.
