“It’s only fascism if they manipulate elections!” “It’s only fascism if they disappear people off the street!” “It’s only fascism if they take over the media!” “It’s only fascism if they jail their political opponents!” Is there even anything left?

I wish every video game company a very nice UNIONIZE

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

"We've all found a rock relatable at some point in our lives." It's true, and if you haven't found a rock relatable yet, that rock is out there for you

Watched The Batman (2022) last night and they really just deleted all but two notes from the Star Wars Imperial March and called it a day

This is such a bonkers fantasy to me. Preferences? Bro I barely HAVE preferences. It's the art which creates the desire in me, not the other way around

maybe i'm old fashion but the coolest thing about video games is being taken to new worlds that i hadn't thought up and experiencing something exciting that the artists behind the game want to show me

I love that for the whole 5 minutes she's got at least one hand on her reality hat, which keeps threatening to blow away. That's poetry for ya

This is the first interview with Anne Carson, by RÚV, the Icelandic state broadcaster. Click the video, it’s in English.

This is a photograph of the edge of one of Saturn's rings, looking down from above. Those spiky dark shapes are shadows. Shadows of giant towers of ice and dust grains clumped together that rise up to three *kilometres* above the 10-m thick rings.

I’ve been seeing a lot of new characters on billboards in the SweetJames Multiverse and I don’t like it. I want only the original, somewhat unsettling, Sweet James.

I was sold on seeing this already, but Matt Berry and Peter Serafinowicz in the same place is just cheating

Need something to play this weekend? Here's a selection of indie games we've been into lately: 🧵

I hadn't read Larissa Szporluk before and this collection absolutely floored me. This poetry is wild and mean and transformative

Tupelo Press@tupelopress.bsky.social

Them That Slept is the third collection by Larissa Szporluk published by Tupelo Press. Her collection Embryos & Idiots (2007) was featured in our Literary Tarot Deck last year 🌟

Somehow the funniest AND smartest write-up I've seen yet about the AI folderol

Brian Phillips@brianphillips.lol

I didn't trust AI to tell me whether AI will kill us all in the next decade. So I turned to the one branch of science more reliable than LLMs: Bracketology

Well. 100% sold.

I want to talk a bit more about this novel, The Rouse by China Mieville, because any review is kind of inadequate. You can more or less review one or two "types" of fiction it is without really even peeling away the surface. 1/?

I'm proud of every issue, but each time feels new. Love this project and these poets, brave enough to do the anonymous poetry-essay exchange!

Issue #7 is now live! Stunning poems and essays from Joseph Chapman, Justin Hamm, Karen Finneyfrock, Karen Holman, Katie Hartsock, Lauren Camp, Mike Santora, Sean Thomas Dougherty, Sehee Oh, and Zach Savich. And a "Crawling, Grasping" mobius from Christina Mesiti. www.publicschoolpoetry.com/current

If I were emperor for a day, one change I'd make: In every political race, at every level, at least the *first* debate would be replaced by a simple test of knowledge. How do taxes work? What agency is responsible for what? Is your area growing or shrinking in population? Just basic stuff.

I am getting WAY into Vholume. The mechanics are so simple and smooth, each level is like falling/flying through someone else's dream. So good, dudes. AND it's like 8 bucks

to have your men eaten on one island may be regarded as a misfortune; to have them eaten on two looks like carelessness.

Louie Stowell@louiestowell.bsky.social

Has anyone considers that Odysseus's problem is that his men are just too delicious. Yes, he angered the gods, but so many of them getting eaten cant be a coincidence.

Got to see the Melvins play in Detroit tonight. They seem to have discovered the true note beneath all other notes, and they are not afraid of JAMMING on that thing

Went to an arcade in Halifax that had a framed portrait of Shigeru Miyamoto looking like he's about to be at the center of a murder mystery in the pacific northwest

The geology we're flying over, and obvious changes in rocks and processes as we move onto new and different locations. (Focus on visible features, rather than researched & published info- interpret the landscape.)

Politics aside, do people believe city-run grocery stores with deeply discounted prices are a good POLICY idea? What are they intended to accomplish, in your view? What problem do they solve? Would you implement them if not running for election? I'm sincerely curious in people's answers here.
