Replying to @barackobama.bsky.social

If we’re willing to organize and mobilize, if we’re willing to turn out in big numbers in Ohio and across this country, if we’re willing to vote for change and vote for Democrats up and down the ballot, then this election might just mark the moment this country began moving in a better direction.

I do appreciate that Newsom's making sure he's terrible on a wide range of issues so it's extremely easy to wave away anyone trying to pretend he's The One We Need.

Here's David Ellison's statement on his successful Paramount-WBD. Thanks Newsom "for his support throughout this process." State AGs were on track to kill the the merger with litigation and delay. Is Newsom giving up on the presidency and instead pursuing a post-gov career as Friend of Oligarchs?

Your regular reminder: If the Russians stop fighting, the war ends. If the Ukrainians stop fighting, their land will be occupied, their leaders will be killed, their history and language will be erased, their children will be kidnapped to serve Russia.

From watching Venus Williams and Camila Osorio practice to meeting the workers who make it all possible — the final day of US Open Fan Week was unforgettable. I’m grateful to USTA & everyone behind the scenes at Fan Week for giving New Yorkers public, affordable access to world-class tennis.

One thing these losers at LCR (I'm trying to be kind) never talk about in the press is exact membership numbers. They're tiny. The attention they get is because some members of the press insist on believing that they're interesting contrarians, not selfish dolts. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/25/u...

Not to beat up on Douthat even more, but I'll just say: it has never, in all of post-war American history, been more crystal clear exactly who your enemy should be. Never. If it's not obvious to you, you are morally & intellectually defective.

In dishonor of Ross Douthat's last NYT column, I'm breaking my self-imposed ban on reading him—smug bad faith, whiny victimization, and steadfast refusal to let evidence affect opinion—and will screenshot and comment. This is the column if you want to read it yourself (I don't recommend it). 1/x

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

Whatever norms make Dems feel compelled to post this drivel went out the window 10 years ago. If, for whatever reason, you want to send condolences to his loved ones, you can do that privately. We truly do not need to do this performative shit anymore.

I'll just add that between handwringing Dem centrists and young Dem-adjacent socialists is a large group I would label "self-described liberals who are enraged/sick of this crap" and are ready to vote left/progressive. Don't underestimate them. And FFS don't scold them; they're also sick of that.

Primarying incumbents is exactly how the system is supposed to work. Every two years, we get to decide, is this the best congressman for us or is there someone better? It should happen all the time. If it did, we’d have a more engaged electorate and a more engaged Congress.
