We live under a 3km blanket - paper thin - that makes Planet Earth 🌍🌎 uniquely friendly to life and protects us from the unimaginable horribleness of space. So we would look after that blanket like our lives depend on it. Wouldn't we? 💙💛 🇬🇧🇪🇺🇺🇦🇨🇦🇬🇪🇬🇱

I saw this video several years ago; thank you for sharing it again. It's heartbreaking to watch. She completely summed it up, and she has been proven exactly right.

10 Years of Brexit 🇬🇧🇪🇺 On the night of the Brexit ref in 2016, as the result came in, this young woman was asked how she felt. Her mixture of anger, grief, shame, shock and despair spoke for millions of us that night — and everything she feared might happen came true. #RejoinEU 🇬🇧🇪🇺

The first 2 minutes of this exceptional documentary are a very good indication of the high quality of this brilliant 1 and a half hour journey through fear and despair and arriving at hope.

In the BBC News room... Boss, this new ONS report has good news - unemployment rate falling and employment going up! - Isn't there some bad news in there too, so we can make Labour look bad?? Well, vacancies are down... - Great! Use that for the headline!

Right now the government is putting our communities, our water security and our climate ambitions second to the demands of tech giants. It's time to slam the brakes on water-guzzling, energy hungry datacentres.

This iconic Fabian Todorovic cartoon is still one of the best I’ve seen at illustrating the remarkable amount of space we surrender to cars, leaving little space left for everyone and everything else. The text added later makes the bonus point that many drivers still manage to complain about it.

BROWDER: What we should do is give Ukrainians all resources they need, and just let them finish Putin off. So far, we've drip-fed resources to them, giving enough so they couldn't lose, but not so much so they could win. We could give Ukrainians €220 billion in frozen Russian assets

As Britain swelters through another heatwave, few people will have heard that ministers have quietly dropped plans for solar carports. Cars cooler in summer. Shelter from the rain in winter. Clean electricity all year round. A missed opportunity?

The fact that the UK govt appears structurally incapable of taking actions that are good, useful and popular, but eminently capable of taking actions that are wasteful, frivolous and harmful, serves to bolster the narrative that government is good for nothing.

BROWDER: Russia certainly has lot more resources than Ukraine. But Ukraine has found the Achilles’ heel of Russian economy. Wherever most economic activity is, that should be target. If they’re targeting oil refineries or oil exports, that’s good.

I understand the softly-softly-red-lines-in-our-manifesto approach but I also think it’s tediously prolonging the agony of this game of let’s-pretend-Brexit-wasn’t-a-monumental-fuck-up. The world is very different to 2016. Brexit Britain is going nowhere fast. Time to get real and say so.

The only defense of Europe is the armed forces of Ukraine. Russian terror state is targeting Ukrainian civilians because they know that only will of Ukrainians really stands in their way, and not European leadership outside Ukraine.
