If and when Dems reassume power, they HAVE to tackle campaign finances. It is even in their interests in the long term so have to take any short term hit

Elon Musk is spending $445M+ to buy the midterms for one very simple reason. He's terrified that a Democratic Congress might finally hold him accountable.

agreed. This is opportunity to re-educate about the huge contribution ppl from other countries make to our society (this is separate to the asylum issue). And restoring family visa for students would be low hanging fruit to help unis. Not addressing these is simply ceding ground to the far right

Andy Burnham's proposals are sadly incoherent. It's unpopular to say this. But you cannot want a National Care Service and an end to rough sleeping while making huge, detrimental changes to the immigration system. The Earned Settlement proposals need to be scrapped. Sign our petition.

Very strange that he holds to the principle that “universities should have to compete” for students, when he went to one of a small handful of universities that absolutely view competing for students as beneath them.

Universities are shedding jobs, departments are closing and students are losing local options. Jo Johnson remains convinced that competition and student choice are working as intended.
