Are there modern "LLM as compiler" projects worth looking at? I'm thinking like, a mix of Prolog declarative and imperative, but plain-language, where LLM generates fresh imperative code (+ verification) fresh each run. Seems like it could skip some intermediary steps vs current LLM-assisted scheme.

So many things but a big one is GPS + navigation. Imagine having to locate and purchase a paper map, then figure out where you are on said map. Some people couldn’t do it; they’d just Disappear Forever.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

This is a war crime, and specifically forbidden in the Geneva Convention.

while you port and emulate games, I ported Jira to my PSP

Coders: there are three ways you should using AI agents: 1. Slop it up: ad-hoc tools/scripts for debugging etc. Save time, let it do its thing. 2. Review your code. You should definitely do this. 3. Make a sketch you'll rewrite. It's really dumb. You can do better. (If you can't, find a new career.)

Re: reviews, if it's not obvious: it will often give false-positives. But it will catch bugs no compiler or verification tool could. Usefulness should be self-evident there.

Sadly I think even Cliffy B saying Unreal Tournament and Gears has always been diverse will not break Gamergaters out of their AI-accelerated conspiratorial psychosis. Still unpacking ways we can deprogram people for a chapter book, feel free to send me any research/recs!

Jev: Fable-level model that doesn’t charge for output tokens because they’re too cheap to meter it’s not general though, it only makes decisions, doesn’t generate text, but input tokens are measured by the billion ($42/btok) typesafe.ai/blog/introdu...

In Massachusetts, we have a responsibility to protect the vulnerable and stand up for those who need it. We don’t throw trans kids under the bus for political points. We protect them—and all of our neighbors—because trans rights are human rights.

a thing about these “priorities” is that they cannot be achieved without comprehensive Supreme Court reform, which means THAT is your actual priority

Klein asks Allen what liberals should prioritize if they win the trifecta in 2028. Allen suggests the following: 1) Putting an end to Citizens United; 2) Creation of national service; 3) Ending gerrymandering

NEW: Under questioning from Senator Ted Cruz, acting AG Todd Blanche said he would review Biden-era DOJ guidance on the Comstock Act if confirmed to the role. As much as I want to stay up to see him struck by lightning on live TV, I’ll be just as happy to hear about it in the morning. I’m old and this ain’t NYE. Happy 4th, those who celebrate. 🇺🇸

"Hardcore" vs "Casual" when describing game genres. My mom was a hardcore freecell player. She could look at any freecell board and disassemble it the way Cypher could see blondes, brunettes and redheads in the Matrix' textstream. Hardcore is a measure of investment, not a genre.

I had a silly idea for a youtube video, so help me out: what's your fav/least fav/most cursed gamedev jargon term? Can be discipline specific or not!

Like I always say, it’s not the journey, it’s the goose that created value along the way.

SoftBank’s investor presentation is one of the greatest things ever made. I’ve been thinking about it all day. These are the real slides shown in a speech where Masayoshi Son said he wouldn’t retire for at least another decade. The goose stuff is truly demented. Bravo group.softbank/media/Projec...

Um not in the business of defending Carville, but clip was him saying anyone against interracial marriage should not be part of the party. Which, yeah duh?! I don’t follow NY politics and skeptical that is a fair representation of that person’s statements, but surely we agree on the principle here?

100% get the impulse to push these boomers still playing the 90’s triangulation game against 2020’s fascism out to sea, but the Bye Felicia memes for saying we’re pro interracial marriage ain’t it.

Not the revision control system we need, but the one we deserve.

I’d forgotten to set up a git repo to track the experiment I was working on but it turned out ok asking the agent to spelunk its transcripts from after I said “this looks like shit” and before I said “fuck yes!” to reconstruct the code I wanted from its tool call logs
