As a former teacher, I never scrubbed in for a gender reassignment surgery, but I did instruct the kids on how to get the window screens off in case of an active shooter…
My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today.
Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.
It's ridiculous that CEOs require millions of dollars in compensation when most employees under them are living paycheck to paycheck.
So many problems in this world are caused by greed.
“they were always like this”
yes they were but they didn’t feel like they could say it out loud at a campaign rally and it was better when they didn’t feel like they could do this
A bottom up, local-based non hierarchical small-democratic organization unless a majority of an obscure 25 person national board doesn't like it and throws the decision out
NEW: DSA's National Political Committee passed two resolutions today aimed at Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman, beginning processes that could result in DSA-LA being forced to rescind its endorsement of her this weekend and/or Raman herself being expelled from DSA by January.
Normally I crop photos to zoom in on the cat, but I like this one the way it is because I keep expecting a second kitty to pop up in the window. Photo from my collection no date/info.
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.
They understand perfectly well, but are adhering to the highest and most sacredly held principle of American democracy: the wealthy and politically connected must never face consequences for their actions. Laws are for the little people.
Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights:
“I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”
Lula must address Meta’s election interference immediately. We cannot allow tech and social media companies to decide elections. X, Google, Meta and other tech companies have to be reined in. There must be consequences and heavy penalties, even banning them completely.
In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.
Here's all you have to fucking say:
There are more Christian youth pastors arrested in a month for pedophilia or CSAM than there are trans people playing sports.
one thing I will say about the preemptive pardon bullshit is it is not the behavior of a group of people who have a definitive plan to retain power forever
