The elections are on next Tuesday, and so much is at stake, including the soul of the Democratic Party when it comes to transgender people. I am asking you to leave a very small number of races blank in which a Democrat has embraced extreme anti-trans hate. I make my case here.

erininthemorning.comDon’t Vote For The Worst Anti-Trans DemocratsThe Democratic Party should, and likely will, win big in the midterms. We must not send the worst anti-trans voices to join them.

Apparently the hot new rationalization in pissy right-wing creator circles as to why they're not as financially or culturally successful as they ought to be is that their IQs are all 30 points too high for the normies to understand their creations, and, oh, honey, I assure you, that's so not it

They're holding up a major escalation in Iran and a crackdown on abortion until after the midterms to limit political damage. To the extent that the last two years have been a right-wing smash-and-grab operation, the next two will be worse.

It is so good to see @reportermatt.bsky.social, who was in like 80% of my classes in college, become the most influential reporter in Massachusetts. He just loves the place, and you can tell in everything he does. A truly wonderful man making the whole state better.

Trump supporters and their apologists are endlessly confused to see relationships they previously enjoyed end, but what other result could entail? The shame of knowing that about you—what you support, what you excuse. The shame of continuing to know you after. Many are unwilling to endure it.

Cade Cavalli signed a contract extension, tossed 5 scoreless innings and reached 200 strikeouts. CJ Abrams joined the 30-30 Club. And Josiah Gray pitched in an MLB game for the first time in 897 days, closing out a 9-1 win. That's a pretty good day for the Washington Nationals.

These people will never shut the fuck up and make something worthwhile with their stupid slop machines but they will endlessly whine and whine and whine and whine about not getting credit for being able to pull the arm on a slot machine. Simply not enough scorn heaped upon them yet.

In defence of AI slop: we should embrace open access to creativity, not condemn it Look past the Donald Trump superhero memes and the new software gives us the chance to democratise creative production. No wonder art’s cultural gatekeepers are worried ✍️ Jack Riley https://bit.ly/3SpzFQ4

(1) It’s possible to have interesting conversations about anything on here (2) Almost everything will produce angry replies from some critical mass of people on here (3) This is because this site is exceptionally good at not putting you in a bubble (4) The solution to 2 is to just block jerks

James Ball@jamesrball.com

Gonna briefly do an AI take: it used to be possible to have interesting discussions about AI here, and it's got progressively less so. You can't just think AI is bad, or overhyped, you've also got to subscribe to a very particular worst-case scenario about *how* it's bad and how bad it is.

The Dodgers who went to the White House should receive every bit as much judgment and condemnation as the Giants pitchers who Sharpied the Pride hats. ICE spent their World Series-winning season terrorizing their city. Fuck them for doing photo ops with fascists instead of standing with their fans.
