NZ Super Fund yielded $9.3b for Kiwis last year. It's world class surpassing Singapore. The NZ Future Fund is one of Labour's core #Election2026 policies. And it was former PM Helen Clark & Sir Cullen that set up both NZ Super & Kiwisaver. Seymour wants NZ Super fund stopped. #NZPOL

#BHN When you think about who will best provide for NZ in the health system just remember that the last 12 months of the last government Labour hired 10 FTE nurses a day, under this government National hired 1 FTE nurse every 2 weeks over 2 years #nzpol #nzpolitics

Casar: "Trump said oil prices going up would be 'small price to pay.' Well, everything for him is small price to pay bc he never pays it. It's not his budget getting stretched thin. It's not his kids getting shipped off to war. They're too busy cashing in on business deals w/Middle Eastern despots"

This is an immensely significant document that continues to get virtually no attention in US media—but lots abroad. In Jul 2015, Epstein arranged a meeting between a known highest-level Russian intel operative, Sergey Belyakov and Peter Thiel,

I think the AI angle of this is obscurant. It doesn’t matter that grok is “an AI” whatever you take that to mean. Suppose X hired a team of guys to photoshop the clothes off of women and children whenever anyone asks. That’s functionally identical what happening here. It’s not complicated.

Dave Levitan@davelevitan.bsky.social

A functional country would shut Grok down permanently. Like, immediately. Right now. Last week. Whatever. Just flip the switch. Obviously.

Disaster!!! National and ACT will cry should our tax system actually face the wealthy to pay the same rate of tax working folk have to stump up. But it's a lie - like all of their lies. Let's look at Maine to see what happened (despite the same hysteria) www.mecep.org/blog/tax-fli...

mecep.orgTax flight is a myth - MECEPRecent studies, data, and testimony say that tax flight is a myth. Wealthy people aren’t fleeing — they’re thriving in higher-tax states.

When Massachusetts passed a "millionaires tax" in 2023, conservatives claimed the rich would flee. But two years later, they haven't — and MA has collected $5.7B for infrastructure and public education. A reminder that positive change can still happen at the state level.

Imagine this scenario. I met a lady who wants her 8 year-old boy to really enjoy his creative writing classes. I suggested she get him into a role playing game BUT pref not D&D because she’d have to DM and she’d never heard of it(?!?). Does anyone have a child friendly RPG suggestion for a busy mum?

If you keep voting for politicians who want to cut public services and roll back human rights, eventually you end up desperate but powerless because if you so much as squeak in protest the government is free to do what it wants to you.

Bartenders are a more important part of the US economy than coal

Stan Oklobdzija@stano.bsky.social

There are only 41,000 coal miners in the United States. By way of comparison, there are 100,000 **registered** yoga teachers, 361,000 Starbucks baristas and 265,000 faculty and staff members working for the University of California system alone.

Uber extracted $402m in revenue from NZ in 2024 but paid less than $1m in tax. Unfair global tax rules allow corporations to profit at our expense. Fair tax policies could help us tackle growing inequality, curb rising living costs, protect nature, and fund climate action. #FairTaxNow #TaxTheRich

Been lucky enough to visit Borneo, see incredible wildlife and meet a lovely couple who shared their photos. Our guide Saiben was a legend and could mimic any bird. Hats off to him as well as Utan Rainorest Lodge - but with only 17% of original forest left, Eco-Tourism may be the only answer.

I received a heartbreaking email today: A paper in a special issue I’m editing is being retracted because one of its authors is afraid of losing their job and their legal status in the U.S. if they publish a scientific study on evolution. Yes, on evolution, nature's engine of diversity.

There a many, many joys about living (mainly) in the Far North. A new one is my daily visit from a piwakawaka who flies into my place, picks out some tasty insect kai, and then flutters out with a chirp of thanks.

You are up to date.
