And I'd prefer it if you weren't so close given there's plenty of opportunity to slow down, hang back, and overtake safely. Posts like this really put cyclists at risk judging from the replies.

Messing around with clocks every year "so it's safe for kids to walk to school" is yet another casual widespread acceptance that people driving cars won't do so safely

Parkrun has changed my life, I got into it as something to take my mind off losing a few friends in a short space of time (turned out to be 12 in 11 months) but I've channelled that grief into loving this community that wants nothing but the best for me. Parkrun has saved my life

What are you afraid of? Sharks🦈, lions🦁,bears🐻? Terrifying. Car traffic kills way more people than animals ever could. Even when excluding indirect harm. Watch out for the real predators🚗!

Footway gullies for ev charging cables can now be installed dependent on the local authority. I still think these are a bad idea. They will create even more territorialism on streets with more cars than space. Lazy ppl won't be arsed to push cable into gully. www.theguardian.com/money/2026/o...

It's really infuriating to be told "cyclists don't follow the rules" in Southern California where as a driver if you go the speed limit and make full stops at stop signs, the driver behind you will go into a full on psychopathic temper tantrum.

Every complaint about naughty/entitled cyclists is a huge tell. (Just like nearly all complaints about self-righteous vegans are a tell.) The real problem isn't that riders don't follow the rules (think about how drivers accept a world of shitty drivers); the real problem is riders exist on the road

It would be easy to allow prosecution of ghost plates via #opsnap reporting portals. Several forces have tried previously. The penalty is far too low at £100. It needs to be much higher or even the criminal offence of attempting to pervert the course of justice. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

Attitudes like this are why we need mandatory speed limiters in vehicles. Does clever boy here just shoplift because he feels a price has no relation to worth? Only when driving do people feel it's fine to ignore the law and be completely anti social. And yes speeding is anti social.

Anfield77@anfield77.bsky.social

I have driven a car for over 40 years, probably 600K plus miles, without causing an accident. Every single time I drive, I speed. Not because I’m reckless or dangerous, but because the posted speed limit has no relation to the road’s true safe speed. Make the limit reasonable and I won’t speed.

I talk a lot about major transport investment, but one of the biggest bangs for the buck policy-wise would be a full pavement parking ban and more rigid enforcement of traffic rules. Enforcement is so lax that this stuff is just completely normalised now, and it's unacceptable.

This. The UK should take a zero tolerance stance to things like pavement parking. The police could easily take a stance that vehicles are obstructions that were driven on and act on 3rd party photo and video submissions. See also dodgy number plates.

Sorry to dunk on your old boat fun, but keeping tall ship access to the Pool of London is why we have no walking and cycling bridge downstream of Tower Bridge - the clearance needed by the Port of London makes bridges really expensive and it's time to remove that restriction.

London got an eyeful, and an earful, this morning as this gallus Glasgow girl blew her hooter to mark her 80th birthday! PS Waverley, the world’s last seagoing paddle steamer, passed through Tower Bridge just after 9.30am this morning, as part of a special anniversary sailing on the River Thames.

I always leave the door zone clear past there: it's prime location for doors being opened quickly. Especially the car that had just pulled in. So no, I'm not going to cycle "near the edge" Mr Shouty Driver Who Hooted Me.

Pedestrian islands are not refuges. They don't slow down drivers, & they leave pedestrians in a hazard or place. If there's space for a pedestrian island, there's space to widen the pavements, narrow the carriageway, and install a raised crossing.

This is a refuge on a residential street. The guy leaning on his bike is at the primary school entrance, hence the green fencing beside him. The bollards are pencil shaped to say “KIDS HERE” the plastic bollards on the refuge have been flattened. There is no #WarOnDrivers there is a #WarOnWalkers
