This is just organized crime doing cargo hijackings something that had been going on with various levels of sophistication long before the AI boom. Datacenter stuff is just the juiciest targets on the road this year.

it's cool that you can send "STOP" to instantly block an automated political fundraising text message so they have to text you from a different number five minutes later

I will eagerly vote for any candidate that promises to put these people in jail.

Just as a private equity firm buys out a corporation and strips it for parts, a consultant class is raiding the Democratic Party and getting “generationally wealthy” along the way New from me and @adambonica.bsky.social newrepublic.com/article/2163...

I don't want to hear any whining about fixing certs from the information security types today. you chose to join the techno-priest caste, now shut up and perform the rites of exorcism

Chat is it good when the pilot of your flight comes out and says "if you're upset by these delays please fill out the survey and direct that information to the company so that maybe we can get some more resources to address these maintenance issues" ?

Technically being a poll worker is a one day job and the BOE would send me a check and eventually a W2 for that one day.

sorry for extending the kelly clarkson discourse for yet another day but not hard to see why she got frustrated with this guy. he's asked three times whether or not the bird is for sale and won't give a clear answer!

Clicking "view full thread" when you come across a set piece like this is like reading the elder scrolls. Trying to comprehend it will drive you insane.

I am quickly becoming a single issue voter and that issue is "execute everybody involved in political fundraising spam texts"

It is really telling how many of these international leaders are clamoring to do PR hits with Mamdani during the UNGA instead of our actual federal office holders.

The City Reporter@thecityreporter.nyc

After leaving the center, Martin and Mamdani walked a few blocks to the G train, where they rode it seven stops. It was their version of “splitting the G,” a Guinness-based drinking challenge, the mayor said.

Kinda weird that we have a meteorological phenomenon named "The Child" and everyone is just like "Oh a bunch of houses in California might get destroyed by floods this year because of... The Child"

"There is evidence that indigenous pre-Columbian civilizations in the Andes knew about The Child and modified their agricultural practices because of it" oh neat ok what a normal sentence.

the three groups i misjudged the most in my adult life were the furries, the juggalos and the irish. i have grown and learned, and now i direct this energy towards far more worthy targets: the catholic church, the NCAA and the british

The Irish, famously fine with the English censoring them on the subject of genocide.

The Irish musicians, Beoga, who play alongside Ed Sheeran, have withdrawn from Sheeran’s tour. This is the statement they published on Instagram:

I hope they make a little haircut detector van that drives around and can tell when somebody is using scissors on hair without a license.

I think it's more comforting for some people to think of OBL as some evil genius or tragic victim of imperialism rather than a bog standard delusional ideologically extremist billionaire failson who thought he could accellerationism his way to a theocratic utopia

In 2003 I signed up for online gambling websites under an alias, deposit $20, played a few times, and then tried to withdrawal what was left. I ran a packet logger while doing it to check if an the traffic was going to US servers and then wrote a brief report on each site.

5 years later the CEO of the client that hired the company that contracted me to do this was arrested at the airport in the US Virgin Islands.

It's actually somehow dumber than that because a large pct of the excess dollars that other countries hold from trade with the US is used to buy treasuries aka funding us govt spending. "Ending trade" would actually make the thing he's mad about this week worse.

Trump thinks that if you pay somebody $10 for a burrito than you have lost the $10, like it has been stolen from you. He's not pretending; this is literally the basis of his trade policy

The Recurring Speed Camera Discourse is a bit exasperating really because, look, we all know what's actually happening is people just want to be able to commit the pertinent crimes and don't like being punished for it, but people come up with obvious post-hoc pseudo-woke rationalisations for this.

I don't have anything to say about the Nancy Mace discourse except that everyone should go rewatch the Jennifer Anniston guest episode 30 Rock.

Too late I already declared the strait a territory of Bofa
