I'm never going to get over the fact that the president of the United States paid a woman more than $5 million after a jury found him liable for raping her. And he's still president. And people still support him. Never. Get. Over. It.

America was never going to truly become a Soccer Nation until we strong-armed FIFA in a completely corrupt transaction that benefits us at the expense of the concept of fairness. So, congrats to us!

Today’s the day! Publication day for Waves of Burden. It’s surreal. This book and I have been on quite a journey since I wrote the first draft in 2022. I experienced so much, good and bad, as you would expect for over four years. I wrote this novel with 1/2

Sometimes you can despair of America, but it’s going to be amazing to see one of our greatest cities, with such a diverse population, all come together today to celebrate Danhausen.

A lot of people have been wondering if Masters of the Universe is going to be up for next year‘s Oscars, and after seeing it this weekend, I think it’ll be JUST on the outside of the critics’ lists. But still a lot of fun and a worthy addition to the MOTU canon.

Today’s newsletter is about my decision to hire a freelance editor for my next novel and how much it helped. Special shout out to Chantelle Aimée Osman, whose editing help feels like finding the right pair of glasses and suddenly you can see everything clearly. buttondown.com/eaymar/archi...

I need to read more Welsh poetry. I was watching Welcome to Wrexham last night and a woman said, complaining about being single: “I have no luck. I could fall into a well of cocks and come out sucking my own thumb.”

A writer wrote me and asked for some clarification about the AI rules for the DC Bouchercon anthology, specifically if it was permissible to use AI for grammar and story development. Just so it’s clear where the DC Bouchercon anthology stands, here’s the answer:

I just spent nearly a week in Minnesota for my day job and part of the trip included a behind-the-scenes tour of Viking Stadium. No matter how much I do laundry, I can’t get the scent of failure and death out of my clothes.

this graduation speech moment is notable, and her amazed shock at having failed to read the room feels instructive. when you're inside the bubble, you think everybody else is. but everybody isn't.

Overheard two women talking about The Golden Girls: “Where did they live in that show?” “They all lived in Blanche’s house.” “Oh, I would love to live with my best friends.” “Aren’t you married?” “Yes. What’s your point?”

Washington ordered smallpox inoculations for the Continental Army beginning in 1777. Hegseth, therefore, is taking a mid-18th century, pre-Industrial Age approach to medicine and warfare.

WOW: A stunning new report in the WSJ reveals that military advisers intentionally excluded Donald Trump from the command room during the recent high-stakes operation to extract a downed U.S. airman in Iran, because they feared his erratic behavior could jeopardize the mission. 1/

Working on something. Is this permissible to include in a set of submission rules for an anthology, legally? "The editors reserve the right to dog walk your ass if we find out you used AI."
