I've never left! Great ad

Since 2004, this community has helped make Firefox and the open internet possible. Our “Come Back to Firefox” campaign reunites a few early internet icons to remind people what made the internet special, and why it’s worth protecting.

Contrary to the other type-inferences out there, the Biome one works on-demand now. A very early benchmark shows that it's almost as fast as tsrs, and uses less memory.

details leaked. this vulnerability is a full unauthenticated unconditional remote code execution exploit against any service running on a PHP version from 5.4 until latest yeah if anything deserves CVSS 11, this is it. this is CATACLYSMICALLY bad.

The promise of "a tool that does all" isn't entirely true. OXC has disconnected linting, formatting and type-checking; hence, vite+ just coordinates different tools. Same for Bun, its new commands have limited sharing of the same HIR. Formatting has a different parser. Of course, it's a choice.

A few weeks ago, I shared the idea of analyzing contributors’ text for signs of automation. Now it's an app and a GitHub Action you can add to your anti-clanker Swiss Army knife. It's still an ongoing experiment, but it seems to capture the patterns in PR and issue descriptions reasonably well.

text.agentscan.toolsAgentScan · TextChecks pull requests, issues and comments against a human baseline for signs of AI-written text.

Bun just landed a formatter in their code base. It's a slopfork of oxfmt. Oxfmt uses a fork of @biomejs.dev Biome uses the same IR of Prettier, and printer heuristics. However Biome adds stuff that Prettier doesn't have. Happy to see that Biome, in a sense, is shaping the next gen of formatters

No, it's not easy. I've done this with Biome (from Rome). I wasn't alone, a team was there to help me. It took us months. We had to rebuild a new identity. I couldn't have done it alone. I'm glad I found people that believed in the mission and helped to create a new community.

I mean, it's great to see the positive sentiment about Deno... but it *is* an open source project. It's not going away, it's just that the team that's been working on it will be doing other stuff. The ecosystem can easily pick it up and run with it.

I called this the same day celld was open sourced! Unfortunately the Deno company didn't succeed, but the runtime is there up for grabs!

Cloudflare@cloudflare.social

We're making the Cloudflare developer platform the best place to run JavaScript, anywhere. Big step toward that today: the Deno team is joining us to build what’s next. https://cfl.re/4rXMBKy

What's so great about Tailwind? Please don't tell me "styles that work everywhere"; I don't buy it. It ends up shipping an HTML page full of classes, which increases the page weight that customers have to download. That means more money, more bandwidth, and slower load times.

I'm really happy to see that @astro.build donations haven't been stopped, and they increased a bit since the TATC (the company behind Astro) was acquired back in January. Thank you for all the donations, the project is thriving!

Great response to why you shouldn't use CSS-in-JS.

Keith Cirkel@keithamus.social

As someone who was on the GitHub team telling them not to do css-in-js I can tell you I wasn’t citing separation of concerns. Instead there were 3 main points I was making as to why it’s a bad idea.

HTML formatter is up to 4x faster, thanks to @codspeed.io We're almost ready for the next minor.

2.5.15 is out! Here are the highlights: - 11 new nursery rules, including noTailwindRawColors and some Svelte rules - Massive type inference performance improvements (2-240x on our benchmarks) - Better type inference accuracy for built in globals Read more ⬇️

That's fucked up on so many levels. Is this reality? Someone give me the meme

"In a leaked document, the Irish Presidency proposes to EU Member States that the interest of OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta and SpaceX to make profits should take precedence over the fundamental right to data protection." noyb.eu/en/ai-eu-mem...

The APIs are intentionally similar to the Rust APIs. For the first iteration, you'll have access to: - file path - file source (js, ts, declaration, etc.) - reduced semantic model And since we direct access to Rust, we could expose more (TBD): - type inference - CFG - module graph

I have an optimisation opportunity in @biomejs.dev It moves some operations in the parser, making it about 5% slower across the board, but it improves the formatter in *many* cases (mostly code without comments) by up to ~40%. What's your take? In production, it doesn't affect most projects

Check this out. It's a really good application, and helps with the burnout from "too many bots" sending PRs and useless messages

Matteo Gabriele@matteogabriele.npmx.social

GitHub doesn't show how many projects use your GitHub Action or GitHub App, so I wrote a custom script to retrieve that information for AgentScan. I didn't expect this many projects ❤️ I'm stoked on one end and sad on the other for the mess AI spam is causing. Stay positive 💪

Astro DX in Biome is about to get better, thanks to @erika.florist and @astro.build

Erika@erika.florist

I sent a small PR fixing a few bugs in @biomejs.dev's Astro support. This is part of a larger effort this quarter to improve the formatting story of Astro, with more to come 😄

This AI fever is making developers numb and stupid. For real. Do they even read the code _and the comments_ written by these tools? Every day I see PRs with abysmal comments, with OP saying "reviewed by me". Oh yeah? Explain me those "load-bearing" comments, for crying out loud

Emanuele (Ema) reposted

New feature in AgentScan GitHub app: the honeypot comment. This comment is intended to welcome regular users, but it also contains a hidden comment that only AI agents will read. This will prompt them to write a specific custom string that will immediately close the PR and add a label as automations
