If you haven’t seen “You Can See Everything” you should. The movie is wild. And not because Holmes and Evans are crazy, which they are. The movie has something to say and it isn’t “look at these people”. Watch it. It’s art.

When a worker wears an Amazon vest, drives an Amazon van and delivers on an Amazon-controlled route, but Amazon denies they work for the company — that's exploitation.

If it looks like an Amazon delivery and drives like an Amazon delivery, then it's an Amazon delivery, right? Not according to Amazon. Big companies like Amazon have built a vast network of subcontractors who deliver their packages while shielding them from accountability.

As someone that lives on this intersection — fuck these people. More housing is more housing. Shitting on housing from your $6000/month or $1.5 million unit is beyond tone deaf.

They really went with "downtown doesn't need any more housing," and threw in mass-timber buildings being a "fire and safety hazard" just for good measure. (These commenters also live next door)

“Ross insists he did nothing wrong on Sugar Pike Road that day in April. He will fight to prove that claim.” Should never see the light of day again. Zero remorse. A danger to society. Fuck that guy.

This guy was caught on video committing one of the worst road rage incidents I've ever seen, plowing into a group of riders—and then he left the scene. Seriously, fuck the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for framing him as some sort of a victim. You are complicit assholes. www.ajc.com/news/2026/10...

This is an insane take away. The people that attempted to egress died before getting to the stairs, the person that sheltered in place protected by the other systems survived. Guess we need to protect egress! Not a serious engagement with the facts or reality.

Mo Zhu@moinmybackyard.bsky.social

R: This is the consequence of a single stair building. Acknowledge this is not sprinklered. Code violations. "Would we have been able to prevent this? Probably not... BUT how many people should have to see that [the image]?" [OK I'm getting mixed messages about the lesson to take away here.]

When talking about transit oriented development people always say “Yeah, that doesn’t work in the US because we are big.” Which seems fair. But it didn’t sit right with me because people don’t live in most of the country, but I didn’t really have good numbers to express HOW empty most of the US is.

The fact is most people in the US live in relatively dense communities. Those communities could, and should in my opinion, enable more densification.

At a macro level there are 93.3 persons per square mile in the US. That’s not a lot. However, 88 percent of people live in a census tract that has more pop density than the average. Those people live on 9.3% of the land for a population density of 881 persons per sq mile.

Fully half of the US lives on 0.9% of the land with a population density of 5200 people per square mile. The data is so insanely skewed that showing it on a nationwide map is hilariously useless. So much of the map is “whatever the lowest value is”.

When talking about transit oriented development people always say “Yeah, that doesn’t work in the US because we are big.” Which seems fair. But it didn’t sit right with me because people don’t live in most of the country, but I didn’t really have good numbers to express HOW empty most of the US is.

So I fixed that for myself. I pulled the census tract data from ArcGIS, which has 2022 population estimates and area’s of the shapes in it. That gives us a pretty good set of data to answer the “how dense are places that people actually live”.

“One more law” never solves the problem. It just creates an ever more invasive set of conditions that authority can use to obliterate you. Assault is already illegal. Sexual harassment is already illegal. Enforce those laws when they are broken.

Now let me let you in on a little secret: This is why the best plan is to let people figure out what facilities they belong in, then enforce the rules or laws about appropriate behavior equally.

Okay, at this point I have to ask where the national Democratic party is on telling its candidates, "Don't talk like JK Rowling, it's probably demoralizing." Because this is just fucked. And if your answer is, "They need to run to the concerns of their district," you're fucking wrong.

@drannieandrews.com I think you should know that hating people is bad, actually. I know it's hard to believe in the age of Trump, but now, more than ever, choosing not to hate people is going to be important.

As far as I know, none of the Democratic Party politicians who represent me have made the anti-trans heel turn (yet). But the Dems' refusal to ostracize these assholes makes me doubt the whole damn party. Will my reps be next? This shit is a poison rotting the Democrats from the inside out.

The Turing Test was cool, but what about the Inverse Turing Test? How does a human prove that they are, have been, and continue to be a human and not a program that is able to pass the Turing Test?

I would not willingly live in Tennessee. Is it good or bad that a class of people have to decide where they will live based on the legal rights they have there?

I'm increasingly frustrated that people who are anti-AI aren't being taken seriously, and taking a page out of my thoughts on why the anti-trans backlash got as far as it did I'm starting to think the anti-AI side isn't extreme enough.

Generally agree knowledge should be free, but I have a hard time reconciling that with “and people should be paid for curating and sharing it” If everyone pirated textbooks, nobody would make money from writing them and they would stop being produced. How do we ensure that doesn’t happen?

Sort of insane fact about how broken US urban planning is—America now spends more building *just the lights for roads and highways* than on all subways & ground mass transit combined Spending on roadway *pavement* is 18x transit spending

People get demoralized when transitioning when they discover that beyond the initial identification of "the problem," transitioning itself will not make you happy. What it provides is the POSSIBILITY for happiness by allowing you to more easily participate in romance, community and self-improvement
