Reform plan to bring back imperial measurements to help boost US trade, not realising that US imperial measurements are different from UK ones. So dense a black hole is empty space by comparison.

UK govt can get information about your bank accounts if you get universal credit, pension credit, employment support allowance. Court order not needed. You won't be told, can't appeal. Same won't apply to enablers of illicit financial flows. No financial privacy for old, poor, sick, unfortunate.

Our NHS has been hollowed out over the last few decades. Thank you @premnsikka.bsky.social The UK has 2.4 NHS beds PER 1,000 people Japan: 12.6 Germany: 7.7 Austria: 6.6 France: 5.4 OECD average: 4.2 This is why we have the disgrace of corridor care. It's time to invest and rebuild our NHS

The core Sovereign Grant for King Charles from public purse will rise to £99.9m (from 2027/28). 93% increase from £51.8m in 2024/25. 65% higher in real terms than in 2016/17. Did your income rise at that rate? 25.3m people live below minimum income standard. We are in it all together, aren't we

Repeat after me: 1) PIP isn't an out of work benefit. It is a benefit paid to disabled people to pay for the extra costs of living with a disability. 2) Some PIP claimants work. Some PIP claimants will never able to work at all. 3) Impoverishing people doesn't get them closer to employment

The best argument for leaving Twitter has less to do with giving oxygen to a Nazi platform than what spending a lot of time on such a platform does to our brains. It’s easy to see how many once normal people on there, right or left, have truly lost themselves in conspiracy theories and false facts.

I’ve only been shouting about this for 15 years but glad it’s finally getting some traction.

Conservative Helen Whateley, "Tax cuts have to be funded.. I'm doing work on what is the right way to bring down the welfare bill" My view: Why is the answer always more hardship for people who are already struggling, while vast wealth can be hoarded almost untouched?

The West is divided into two sets of people: 1. Those who accept that trickle-down economics has failed and are therefore trying to correct 40 years of social injustice. 2. Those who benefitted from the trickle down lie because they were at the top of it with an ever-expanding bucket!

It begs the questions ... What crimes committed by Reform UK Councillors are they hiding ...

Should every councillor be required to undergo a basic DBS check? Reform doesn't seem to think so..

I talked this week about the mental health crisis afflicting young people, in particular the isolation and loneliness caused by the neoliberal smashing of society. Everyone needs community. Everyone needs belonging. We cannot survive without them.

This 'stop benefit claimants buying cigarettes and alcohol' policy ties back to the idea of 'smart cards' which can only work in particular shops for particular products. There are *so many* things wrong with the policy it's hard to know where to start. The main thing is the message it sends...

For those who have forgotten the past 40 years: Tax cuts for the rich ...don’t trickle down Boosting military spending ...doesn’t bring peace Slashing regulations ...doesn’t create jobs Folks, we’ve seen this all before.

Is welfare spending ''out of control''? It's estimated to be 11.1 per cent of GDP this financial year. That's just 1.1 per cent of GDP higher than in 2007-08, and total welfare spending has actually fallen by 0.9 per cent of GDP since 2012-13 ⤵️

Your regular reminder: If the Russians stop fighting, the war ends. If the Ukrainians stop fighting, their land will be occupied, their leaders will be killed, their history and language will be erased, their children will be kidnapped to serve Russia.

Riddle me this. If somebody donates £36 million to a political party and £5 million to its leader, how is the £5 million not political? Asking for a parliamentary standards commissioner.

Everything is so fucking absurd. Dementia Don destroying everything whilst getting away with raping kids. Brexit making us all poorer, isolated and insignificant. Nige pocketing £millions for his Brexit which ruined the Dublin Protocol and caused all the small boats. FFS.

Every week the millionaire class tells us to blame & hate another minority, be it black people/disabled/trans/autistic/single mothers/gay/refugees/foreign/poor/elderly/benefit claimants/migrants/protesters/unemployed/carers etc, and every week we ignore the real villains, them.

This article must have been written at least a couple of hundred times now, without anyone ever making a convincing argument for it. £100,000 puts MPs comfortably in the top 4% of earners. How would putting them in the top 0.5% instead make them any better representatives of the remaining 99.5%?

One more reminder. Yes, Reform are a deeply unserious party, and have no intention or ability to bring their plans into action, but there’s a very serious side to this. It’s about embedding the narrative that disabled people are dishonest, undeserving scroungers. That does need to be opposed.

Our exciting new announcement is that we want to cut benefits for disabled people! This will help to fund our plan to slash capital gains tax on crypto assets from 24% to 10%, benefitting crypto billionaires like Christopher Harborne, who coincidentally gave me £5m.
