The cuts in staff across federal health agencies are staggering. Great analysis from @ourpublicservice.bsky.social. 1 in 5 people gone from NIH. More than 1 in 4 gone from CDC. Nearly 7 in 10 gone from AHRQ. ourpublicservice.org/resource/the...

NEW: Our analysis found that from 2020 to 2025, the rate of deaths involving ectopic pregnancies nearly doubled compared with the previous six-year period. The uptick was steeper in states with abortion bans.

Your little oopsie "mistakes" had me worrying for a year of my life about my partner going to jail for up to a decade based on lies likely fed to you by the top of the federal government. Show everyone what you're covering up in these emails and texts. There's a reason you don't want them released.

Remember the current NIH director going on about protecting researchers from government censorship? Today his people called the police in to forcibly remove my colleagues from their own society meeting for sharing an editorial published in their flagship journal that was critical of him. Gift link

When DOGE arrived at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the operatives had no real background in nuclear issues. They boxed out experienced hands, forcing resignations and massive exodus of talent. Over 400 people have since left or been forced out. Our full story: https://propub.li/3OBQMwk

SCOOP: Two weeks ago, the head of the CDC delayed publication of a report showing covid vaccine cut likelihood of ER visits and hospitalizations by half. Now that report is no longer allowed to be published in CDC’s flagship scientific journal. My latest. 1/2 www.washingtonpost.com/health/2026/...

This is just devastating for a field of work. Not only does this halt progress on advancing medical science, these are also people's livelihoods. It's really hard to encourage anyone to try to enter medical science when this is the fiscal reality.

If any news outlets are covering this and want to talk to a trans Genomics PhD who specialized in human genetics and the evolution of sex, please reach out to me This is complete nonsense scientifically. It's fascist eugenics, not biology Setting a horrifying precedent for genocide
1. Horrifying ruling out of the 4th Circuit. An all-Republican 4th Circuit panel has just ruled that states can compel trans adults to "appreciate their sex" by enacting care bans. It even directly says that trans adult care bans are legal in the ruling. Subscribe to support our journalism.

"favorite unicorn" is a very weird framing this case. I've voted for plenty of Dems for president who I was so-so on. but Newsom is very explicitly talking about rolling back trans rights. I don't know who you are, but if Newsom was singling out *your rights* to roll back, would you vote for him?...

If you take the Trump/MAGA/GOP threat to US Constitutional democracy seriously—and I really think you should—then things getting worse faster, before Trump has consolidated authoritarian power, is beneficial, not detrimental. If Democrats don't fight now, they might never have another real chance.

I just called Chuck Schumer’s office and, for the first time EVER, a person answered, who then politely entered my complaints into their call log. This tells me two things: 1) They’re not getting enough calls over there, and 2) If you want to yell at Schumer, today’s the day. (212) 486-4430
hey, cis people. we need you to call every single elected official you've got, now.
