Why does this matter? It's informative about what our strategy should be. Democrats only started going hard in on gay rights and trans rights when it became apparent to them they'd lose votes for NOT doing so more than they'd gain votes for being bigoted. This suggests we should bully them more.

And last but not least: Back in the early 2000s, George W. Bush of all people greeted a trans woman he knew in college and could bother to call her a woman and use her given name. Why are democratic candidates in 2026 having a harder time with that than George W. Bush?!

There are people, even some trans people, who think that we can give up sports to appease bigots. That if we give up on sports, this all goes away. That is a lie. I have reported on this for years, and EVERY state that passed a sports ban as a moderate compromise has gone on to pass worse.
