the owner of the tramply panopticon finds a new annoying way to prove that he has not a singular generous bone in his body

shauna@goldengateblond.bsky.social

this is fucking appalling. i already knew james dolan (who owns the knicks and madison square garden) was a douche but this is next-level. www.nytimes.com/athletic/771...

I hate the fact that life has turned into an endless series of single-use kitchen gadgets. Want to go to a theme park? Better install their proprietary app. Want to go to another theme park owned by the same company? That will be another app.

I don’t want to be too sensationalist about this but also I’m the least violent person in the world and I think if someone said this to my face I’d hit them

No longer content with pillaging intellectual work and dismembering our environment (already critically weakened), AI companies are now hellbent on destroying books galore including rare editions. Shut down these nefarious enterprises already.

Perpetual reminder that making fun of "bad" fat people means that "good" fat people are one infraction away from you being an asshole at them about their bodies and it is completely at your whim and mercy. It's not a good look.

I know the list is endless but I genuinely think trashing the legitimate congressionally chartered org for celebrating the 250th to instead hijack our national assets and taxpayer funds for his personality cult grifter crap should, in and of itself, be fully sufficient to merit removal from office.

I have a MS in Library and Information Science and can't get a job interview. It certainly feels like LLMs and their "knowledge" have made all the skills that I have learned utterly devalued by the job market.

I don't know if Isaac Fellman's NOTES FROM A REGICIDE is well known or not, but either way you should definitely read it. It's unlike anything I've ever read before, which is really saying something! The audiobook is especially good, I loved the narrator's voice.

This is your periodic reminder that word of mouth moves more books than any formal advertising! I invite you to rec something you've recently enjoyed -- preference for the stuff that's *not* already extremely well-known and talked about everywhere.

It pisses me off so much when I see those ChatGPT ads where someone gets advice for sticking to a running routine or opening a restaurant β€” all that information is stolen from folks who have done actual research studies, run trials, written blogs, published essays & books. Fucking thievery.

The world is completely fucked right now, but here is one person we can help. If you're able to, let's get this young gentleman through university.

Andromeda Yelton@thatandromeda.bsky.social

OK so this young trans gentleman was cut off by his parents, has been unable to get MIT to up his financial aid, has been working multiple jobs while maintaining an A- average AT MIT (no one does this), but he is gonna need to actually pay his tuition to graduate: www.gofundme.com/f/help-matth...

A big takeaway this year has to be that Sinners and One Battle After Another were big, artist driven, swings bankrolled by WB whose future is ultimately unclear. I like living in a world where people like PTA and Ryan Coogler get to make the films they want to make with those resources.

"if he wins the primary will you promise to--" no! i will not promise shit!! if that worries you maybe you should be scrambling to find a candidate that doesn't repulse me on every level!!!

you will have to pry the millennial β€œlol” from my cold dead hands. i don’t know how else to express minor despair. if i didn’t say β€œlol” after admitting i’m a husk inside, i’d have to develop emotional resilience, and i simply don’t have time for that

this visual presentation really drives home that their movement is all about the inversion of all values for the sake of contrariness and spite, rather than the creation of a stable order that can stand stably on its own merits

My ask of any science enthusiasts who tell the story of Rosalind Franklin: Don't make her life be about the DNA debacle. She died far too young, but she was a promising scientist in her own right, a mentor and scientific author. Not for Watson or Crick, but for her legacy.
