eBay on the fur trade:
"We don't allow endangered species listings on our site, but we sure as hell aren't going to stop them!"
They have a hand in (and profit from) a huge number of Protected Species transactions. Bad on Cats and Crocodilians; but also elephant, sea mammal, turtle, Colobus...
media: are these blackshirts fascists.
andy burnham: good question. my favourite biscuit with tea is a custard cream although in culcheth we used to call them cuppy-busters.
Strangely, Boots.co.uk don't give a shit that slop Google interstitial adverts are (ab)using their name.
Or maybe Boots is selling unlicenced meds over the internet, and the slopverts are genuine.
I just can't tell.
Bought a new set of bathroom scales. They talk to my phone.
Day 1: Oh, adverts in the app, that's a shame.
Day 2: Jeez, it's 2 minutes from turning the scales on to end of mandatory adverts. Unimpressed.
Day 3: Turns out my scales are a sluice for fake news. In the bin.
I see AI wants me to build a penny-farthing for my next project...
I recently bought a bike from a listing with only AI pics.
In the pics, the AI had variously hallucinated rear suspension, a second chainring on the left side, twin disk brakes...
I got a part refund, obvs.
The Isle of Sheppey, in Kent, is a "floater", and is only attached by the bridges. In the event of insurrection, the plan is to detach from the mainland and drift away.
Fun fact: while Kingsferry Bridge is designed to unhook non-destructively, the new bridge has explosive cores to the pillars.
It's safe to assume that all major LLMs are scraping Bluesky data to train future models.
As an open protocol, Bluesky is one of the few sources of fresh human-generated content that anybody can gobble up. So all this is probably going in the models.
There are submarines in the Great Lakes.
This is the most extraordinary judgment I’ve read all year.
If there was not about to be a reshuffle - I suspect it might have been a resigning matter for the Attorney General.

So this is the painting Ein Kunstfreund (The Art Lover) by the 19th century German painter August Siegert.
The child is Adolf Siegert, the artist's son, who would have been 5 or 6 when this was painted.
The painter in the background is Adolph Tidemand, the godfather of little Adolf.
The road on which I live would be much taller than a skyscraper if it were stood on end. 5 miles high!
I'd imagine standing a water-filled pool on end is quite a tricky engineering job, though.
The courts should stop treating driving bans like they're this big hardship. If you kill or even seriously injure someone while driving, the ban should be for life. Take the bus and cry me a fucking river.
