Montana has seen this before. In 2015, a pipeline ruptured beneath the Yellowstone River near Glendive, contaminating the town’s drinking water. Exxon paid millions in penalties. The pipeline is now back - and has already tried to use a waiver to avoid reporting required data.

So here’s where I land: 35 permanent jobs are not worth making Montana responsible for a cleanup bill nobody in Alberta will pay. I’m not against Montana energy. I’m against Montana getting the risk while somebody else gets the reward.
