Different context but this captures my $0.02 on code review too. Receiving an automated review dump from a 3rd party brings nothing to the party. Having a person perform their standard review **and** augmenting it with findings they've actually vetted from AI reviewers? That's useful.

Heng Li@lh3lh3.bsky.social

My thought on AI review: lh3.github.io/2026/10/27/l... TL;DR: journals are banning fully AI-generated review and I think that is the right decision

Downloaded baldur's gate I for my switch. It fave me a full tutorial on the following to make sure I understood: 1) Late 90s CRPG style games 2) The AD&D 2e rules Jesus christ

I have a colleague referring to agentic coding as "Swedish Chef Coding" and I must admit that it's much more work friendly than "Cuck Coding".. you know, where you are forced to just watch...

"Look how they massacred my boy" is an iconic line spoken by Vito Corleone (played by Marlon Brando) in the 1972 crime film The Godfather. He says it while grieving over the bullet-riddled body of his oldest son, Sonny Corleone and asks the mortician to make him look presentable for his mother.

I always kinda hated "roguelikes" because they never reminded me of rogue. I don't know when people bastardized the term, but it led me to grab Real Rogue (or rather, A Real Rogue). So much better.

Octopus is the easiest thing to cut out of your diet on moral grounds because it’s basically never around, probably has dreams and emotions and tastes like a tire.

Oh look… it’s a @hadley.nz agent.

mr. TIM@timkellogg.me

Researchers made an agent that operates by executing statements in a custom programming language the catch? it extends it’s capabilities by implementing new programming language features learning through programming language development arxiv.org/abs/2610.20809

This is huge. With AOT, AHS, and the runtime changes coming in 28, it’s going to be a stellar release. Most people don’t realize how amazing the JVM is, and it just keeps getting better - github.com/openjdk/jdk/... #java #jvm

Happy to announce that JEP 546: “Adaptive Heap Sizing for ZGC” and JEP 545: “Faster Startup and Warmup with ZGC” have both been targeted for JDK 28.

TBH the more I think about it the more I think this is a good idea. i.e. require a manual step where a human has to go in and add the comments/docstrings/etc they think are necessary. Requires them to actually go through everything.

Someone has to volunteer as tribute to dress like this and go on CNBC to explain software and the internet and social engineering to the people.

I mean we all know that Lovecraft was ... problematic. But once in a while i'll be rereading something (rats in the walls, in this case) and stop and say, "Wait .... what?!?!"

You know you're an old school, Boston townie when you leave a review for a chinese restaurant bemoaning that they stopped including dinner rolls in their takeout bags

For years I associated the sound of the Dropkick Murphys with a dude who wants to tell me about how his grandparents immigrated "the right way," so I am constantly having to remind myself that the band itself is quite different

The Rude Pundit@rudepundit.bsky.social

Watching the Dropkick Murphys, who have never had any fucks to give, just rip into Trump at the Power to the People concert is giving me life. Knowing that Jack Smith is there watching is making me grin ear to ear.

watching a bit from the hulu austin limits live stream, and like 92.3% of people in the crowd have their phone up. where did we go wrong as a society?

Multiple people at the house of blues tonight were rocking what looked to be new Germs shirts. Not sure what’s driving the surge in merch for the germs but I am here for it!

The White House accord on AI that was signed by all the big tech oligarchs today misspells United States as “Unites States.”

Here's what it's like getting stuck vertically on a roller coaster. People on this ride, Circuit Breaker at COTALAND in Austin, Texas, were in the vertical position for about nine minutes, but luckily no one was hurt and the coaster was safely lowered.

I’ve literally seen this in the wild. Had exec say they needed “real time data” … I knew they didn’t. Tech team was architecting Kafka bullshit so I asked in a meeting “how many times a day do you need this refreshed?” Answer: “once is fine. Twice if you can”

I'm sorry, but in the Boy Scouts I was taught to Be Prepared. And thus I always have a water bottle stashed in my bag because who knows that that day is gonna look like. And besides, this is also a dumb take for all the reasons everyone else is dunking on it.

I’m sorry, but if you bring an iced coffee - or any damn beverage at all - to a job interview, you’re disqualified. It’s not hard, people.

Opus 5.5 comes out, advertised as having Fable's biosecurity guards. No problem, Fable has been AOK for a couple of months now. Switch from Fable to Opus, give it the same prompt I'd been using on Fable all morning, gets flagged. Oh well, great job gang.

this why I laugh any time people ask me "won't slop be insecure" my sibling in christ, where do you think they learned to code insecurely from

jenn da joker@jennschiffer.com

a lot of folks are asking how someone can do something so "stupid" as hard coding a secret token, and i'm telling you that you are holding software developers and companies on way too high a pedestal if you still think there's secure, quality code being sent out into the world

Was proud of myself for remembering 2 of the 3 Very Important Showerthoughts I Should Do Today as usually it's 0 of N. Was going to post about that mild victory, which then triggered a memory of what the 3rd was. Pretty sure this is one of the prophesied signs of the apocalypse, but I'll take it!
