So is the Flippo endgame getting elected, immediately impeached, then replaced by an appointee from the winner of the Governor’s race?

If your bug-out spot is a $170M suburban mansion on a sea-level island in Florida that you share with a bunch of other famously rich people, you're too stupid to be allowed that kind of purchasing power.

Earlier this year, Mark Zuckerberg purchased a $170 million estate near Miami—complete with nine bedrooms, eleven full bathrooms, and a 1,500-gallon aquarium—in a private enclave colloquially called “Billionaire Bunker." https://dissentmagazine.org/article/end-times-fascism-book-review/

This war is Trump and Hegseth’s war. They chose it. Just because it’s happening in and around Iran doesn’t make it theirs.

The United States, and Nevada, for the past two years has traversed “relatively gracefully” over economic policy shocks brought on by unprecedented restrictions on trade and immigration. But economists warn that the next two years may bring a more difficult, flatter road for revenue.

It's a choice (a bad one) to tell readers this driver "passed too close to cyclists" when there's video evidence showing he drove his car into them, made contact and hurt someone. Fellow journalists: we can explore the nuances of punishment for drivers without obfuscating their dangerous behavior.

RELEASE THE BEAVERS

Ada Palmer@adapalmer.bsky.social

Britain is having its hottest summer on record, but one place has remained green. Brits in Holnicote have put rivers back onto their floodplains, restored wetlands, and released beavers that now build ponds and maintain the wetlands themselves. Countryfile buff.ly/CchGxpW #ShareGoodNewsToo

Time for managed retreat. 37 was a poor choice to causeway a wetland in the first place.

Highway 37 sees 40,000 car commuters a day who will get an $11 billion taxpayer gift from Caltrans to elevate the freeway to deal with the climate change caused by the cars. BART sees 200,000 commuters a day who have to fight like hell to raise $3.6 billion just to keep the trains running.

What a misleading headline! The bill to "fix" CA-37 is $11 billion, as stated later in the article. $100M is just to widen a portion of a road that is already sinking under the waves. Note you don't need to vote on CA-37. That's because the state will just spend the money. Imagine that for transit!

100% duh. Billionaires and corporations only cared about harm mitigation messaging when it offered social ROI. Once it was politically neutral to situationally negative they dropped it like a legless metaverse. They have no fundamental morals, everything is positional. Nihilistic.

We have people like this in industry- create problems with incompetence or inattention, let them become critical, then demand everyone else recognize and back their herculean efforts to pull things back on track. It's exhausting, toxic, and unfortunately often successful at earning rewards.
