Astonishing: Maxwell was willing to tell Blanche about some of Trump's rapes, and he ordered her not to. "Let's not talk about inviduals." WTF were they there to talk about? There's EVIDENCE on this.

Amanda Marcotte@amandamarcotte.bsky.social

This report is genuinely overwhelming, in terms of the evidence both against Trump and of a ham-fisted cover-up. Including one instance in which Ghislaine Maxwell was actually about to mention one of Trump's young accusers and Todd Blanche told her to stop talking. The media response is "yawn."

Three moments broke Trump 2.0: 1) Kimmel and other attempted censorship after Charlie Kirk. Made public see the attack on speech. 2) Minnesota anti-ICE protests, Goode and Pretti killings. Made public see the attack on rights. 3) Iran war. Made public see bad foreign policy affects them directly.

Much of What Democrats Must Do boils down to valuing the good faith opinions of millions of Americans who vote for them more than bad faith opinions in media. They’ll call truth and justice “weaponization.” They’ll say voters don’t want accountability. They’re wrong, and Dems don’t have to listen.

Schooley@schooley.bsky.social

If Democrats actually win big because people want a check on Trump corruption I expect every move to do so will be covered in the corporate media as being risky to their 2028 position.

Total respect for NBC's Monica Alba, who asked Trump exactly the question he needs to answer. By refusing to answer, and attacking her, he has effectively told the world that no, sexual abuse allegations do no mean a thing to him. Imagine if she wasn't there. We'd be the poorer for it.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

😳 WOMAN REPORTER: Do sexual abuse allegations mean nothing to you, sir? TRUMP: Wait. Wait! Wait wait wait. Slow down. Who are you with? REPORTER: NBC, sir. But they are very serious sex abuse allegations TRUMP: Quiet! Isn't she a fresh person? You're a horrible little reporter, aren't you?

People i know probably would have understood sooner if coverage described tariffs more plainly as fees paid BY AMERICANS when buying from certain countries, and not "a tariff ON another country." People have slowly gotten it regardless, but I saw national coverage that implied the opposite meaning.

NVIDIA seems to be channel stuffing, forcing Amazon and other customers to take early delivery. The argument that these things are "scarce" when you don't even have anywhere to plug them into is nonsense...unless NVIDIA is saying you NEED to take them now, or else. GPUs are stacked in warehouses.

Ed Zitron@edzitron.com

Business Insider also reporting that Amazon projects it would take delivery of $3 billion a month in GPUs “every month for the foreseeable future,” all while not having anywhere to put them, as part of an “early rack receipt” program. Extremely strange!

Yes. The conservative scheme for education is a three-way split: high-priced academies for the children of the wealthy, religious instruction to brainwash the middle class, and a rump of prison-like public schools to discipline the lower class into obedience.

jamelle@jamellebouie.net

the other thing is that conservatives resolutely do not see the purpose of education as providing social mobility but as reifying and deepening existing inequalities of status. they are as hostile to low income students getting admission to elite institutions as they are black ones.

The "golden age of gaming" isn't one where the vast majority of people who love games can't afford the equipment to play them and where those who make the games get their ideas (and ability to pay rent) stolen from them.

That new GTA launch trailer looks like most of it was filmed using a scratched up plastic preview-window lens from a disposable camera, and I don't understand why that would be.

If a tool provided measurable value/productivity increases, this would be an odd move to make. Unless of course management realized that AI doesn't increase productivity in their work. Allocating less per employee on AI than they do each month on break-room coffee pods is a loud signal.
