Big fan of Mystery tourneys. Generally tired.

Things I didn't take into account when typing up directions for Mystery players at a Smash tournament: - "I've never held a Playstation controller." - Guy in late 20's - "I'm holding back but it's not blocking!" - Guy getting hit by lows - "I'm hitting A but it's not working." - Guy hitting B :(

The last one's a little bit of a jab but the first two are actually things I need to decide if I should adjust how I type these up. Do I say "back and down+back to block" instead of "back to block"? Do I have dual instructions for PS/PC emu ("press Circle(B) to kick") or just one or the other?

Its forever been the wildest thing being at games conferences -especially the largest ones- and the talk schedule is like - creating sincere art from playful naivete - balancing passion and health - how to dodge parental controls when monetizing toddlers - regrets from my 1st commercial codebase

making games so you can hopefully afford to make more games is literally a different industry from grinding up people so number goes up and it is harmful to pretend otherwise regardless of whether or not we share a platform or a binary format

I just want to name that people overcame this. Even against a stacked deck, the good fight is worth it. Win or lose, it's worth it. And sometimes the good guys win.

Bolsonaro-friendly mayors appear to be sabotaging public transport on Election Day. Buses aren’t running in Lula-friendly areas, flights and ferries mysteriously canceled. Traffic lights have gone out and people’s power cut in Salvador, indigenous people’s travel restricted

There are a billion ads here (because you will NEVER outspend Republicans) that just carpet bomb your TV/Youtube with "Josh Turek/Lindsay James want to kidnap and trans up YOUR children" and instead of saying what Dems will fight for they just constantly let Republicans dictate the talking points.

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

If he wanted to use his disability to say something all he had to do was make a 10 second ad using the basketball footage and say "I'm Josh Turek and I'm here to fight. For ALL Iowans". That's it. Implication of inclusivity and of action. Instead he spent singled out another marginalized group.

bsky.app/profile/jake... This on top of the fact that campaign donations are mostly just funding vendors and consultants these days. Like, with some (incredibly inspiring) exceptions like El-Sayed and Abughazaleh and Mamdani, we are just getting objectively, exponentially worse at this.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

We found that as of right now 73% of your campaign donation goes back to the consultants and vendors (!!!), four times more than just 20 years ago. Only 13% to ads. Even I was shocked.

If the only thing I get out of you is that you're fighting to do the same thing as the side I'll never vote for then all I know is that I shouldn't vote for you either. I'm BEGGING to be proven wrong. I'm BEGGING you to tell me that this fight isn't hopeless. But all you'll tell me is that it is.

Stop letting the villains dictate the conversation. Stop playing on fascists' terms. Tell me you'll fight for a better future. Not just for people who look like me but for EVERYONE in this state. There is no hopeful future through exclusion and you'll see that when we, once again, lose in two weeks.

I've had entire series runs of popular cable reality shows 15-20 years ago pass me by without knowing anything other than that they exist, at most. That was during a monoculture, a shared reality. Most 15-minute assholes will live and die and I will never know. Don't pretend that's my problem.

I'm not gonna sit here and say that the person is correct about beat-em-ups but some of you *really* need to tone down the rhetoric about another human based on their opinions about our toys. You have all done something similar about a sport or artform or whatever before, I promise you this.

Once mass spam texts were made legal, younger donors vanished, leaving a grassroots fundraising machine that subsists on squeezing vulnerable seniors, some of whom give hundreds of times a day. It’s a horrific model. Consultants get generationally wealthy, and the party hollows out its future.

It's always gonna be Viper in Top Gun for me. When you can stand next to Michael Ironside and Anthony Edwards and somehow still be both the most feared, respected, competent person AND the warmest, most charismatic person in the room, you can only be Tom Skerritt.

I've seen multiple takes of "just make your game/demo bigger and better and more unique and you won't have to worry about AI copying it" from people who have established games/brands and I'm glad we're at the place of "I got mine" and "skill issue". I appreciate that honesty.

I generally hate making snarky posts but after years of "just make things, doesn't matter if they suck, just do it, it's fun" we're giving advice of "dawg if your game is copyable that's on you, I would never" and it's not great.

Think I could pull out a Michael Wincott impression for this?

Part of the answer to "how did we get here?" is that many major journalists—since 1998, Crawford has covered SCOTUS for PBS, ABC, and CBS—are lying bigots. Here Crawford is praising a guy who asked a dumb racist question, glitched out when asked why, then admitted he wanted a Christian theocracy.

question for the audience: if you were ultra rich (let’s say $25M), what completely frivolous thing are you buying?

Gonna make this easy for you all: Flying cars and autonomous cars and AI and all these things are rad as fuck in theory but the reality we've been given is controlled by fascists who can only see as far as their power and their profits. So while all these are in their hands, they will suck, period.

Like Musk's idea of what a train should be fucking *sucked*. Do trains suck? No! It's just him! Does single-payer suck? No! Just Romney/Obamacare! Same with how C-Suites think of games and movies. Those ideas suck! Do games and movies? No! Just don't let asswipes dictate what you can/can't dream of.

Had a dream my dick and balls fell off into the toilet, then I woke up from that into another dream, told my dream wife about it, went to the bathroom, and my dick and balls fell off again and I went "oh noooo :( " and then woke up into reality and slept like garbage after that. How was your night?
