It’s pretty great when an 18 year old blog (and blogging platform!) can get integrated with modern standards. Congrats @opensource.google for connecting Blogger to @standard.site

Google Open Source@opensource.google

"This blog is about celebrating that friendship" with open source developers. That was our first post in Feb 2008. Today, all 1,557 posts (2008–2026) live in the Atmosphere as verified @standard.site records: https://opensource.googleblog.com/2008/02/welcome-to-google-open-source-blog.html

The funniest thing about “who is funding you” question is that believe it or not, we are also all trying to find an answer to that question so we can get paid.

GM. It’s not that atproto is illegible to devs or even civilians but inscrutable via the systems of power that have taken over the internet. The sin of social media wasn’t technical but aligning with the desires of established power and ours is the long hard work of breaking that alignment.

This looks amazing. And, again, reconfirms the thing I keep telling people: the Atmosphere isn't about rebuilding Twitter. It's about rebuilding a better web overall.

🙋‍♂️ ever wanted to build something without needing to configure a db, auth, file storage or a cms? it turns out you already have all four if you have a bluesky account 👉 airspace is a typed client for it

hot take: I would rather read your imperfect English in your own voice than perfect LLM English that makes all writing narratively the same

The only way to get employed as an AI engineer consultant/lead is to be unemployed long enough first, so you can catch up, keep up, prototype, evaluate and integrate 9-5. And then also tie it back to your previous tech life. Barely anyone can claim more than 12 months live experience.

Lots of people have been asking about the atproto alternative to Buzz, the Jack Dorsey-supported Nostr chat for agents & humans to chat in. The answer is freeq, which is atproto + IRCv3 extensions, including CRDTs with Automerge, QUIC, iroh. Follow @freeq.at.

freeq.atfreeq — the room where humans and agents workfreeq is chat infrastructure for humans and AI agents: cryptographic identity (Bluesky for people, did:key for agents), signed messages, verifiable channel policies, voice sessions, E2EE, CRDT federation — all as backwards-compatible IRC.

When you're up against network effects, there comes a time when it isn't worth staying and trying to get others to move. It's better to leave. And focus on building, on new network effects.

It's surreal that the entry point to the Internet for most people is now completely disconnected from reality. Even if it's only wrong 10% of the time, you can't know which 10%.

My kid is doing research on a local landmark, so we googled some information about it and got the Gemini AI response. For every answer it gave, I questioned it, it then said was wrong and confidently gave another wrong answer. This continued for 6 wrong answers in a row, summarized here.

Canadians, tell your MPs to vote NO on bill C22. There's a one-click option to do so in the thread!

BREAKING: Signal, the #1 privacy protecting messaging app, is saying they will pull out of 🇨🇦 ENTIRELY if they're scoped into #BillC22 without large changes. This should be our final alarm bell:.We can have privacy or we can have C22, not both! #cdnpoli www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/art...

We need everyone to wake up to how fragile our shared commons are. We can't wait until we drown in security incidents and more projects close down, using them as excuses. If you're in a position to help (every company is), check who you depend on and need support (everyone), and fund them.

Nice article. The Atmosphere however is playing a “yes and” game. Absolutely social for groups and communities! But the structure here means we are aiming for _all_ apps, not just the social ones. Especially when permissioned data becomes available.

Been playing around with and finalizing this chess experiment over the past few weeks, ended up being a great way to dig into atproto development. If you give it a go and let me know if you have any issues, i'll be continuing to extend it with more features

#checkmate is live. Multiplayer chess built 100% on the ATmosphere. No central database, all moves pulled in realtime from the firehose. Play at https://checkmate.blue #ATProto #chess

honestly, I think software developers have a hard time reconciling the reality that they are among relatively few professionals for whom AI is empowering rather than disempowering. it's kind of deservedly alienating, which doesn't change the reality of it— see bsky.app/profile/alex...

I am fairly allergic to “thought leadership” but at the risk of that: it feels like we’re getting to getting to the point with AI where it’s increasingly clear that it’s just software. which is to say (1/n)…

You are up to date.
