Seriously, there's no need for more study of the economics of sports venues. The evidence shows they clearly don't promote economic development and we know exactly why. The spending is just a reallocation of existing wealth. bsky.app/profile/jcbr...

A year after being called out for using the antisemitic term “Shylock” and claiming he didn’t know it was problematic, Trump has used it again. This is not an accident. Normalizing antisemitic tropes and conspiracy theories is deeply dangerous. www.forbes.com/sites/siladi...

We’re ten years into this world and still I couldn’t believe my ears when the DOJ lawyers said that we shouldn’t believe the words the President plainly wrote. They’ll tell us what those words ~actually~ mean

In a long hearing today, Judge Ana C. Reyes asked DOJ lawyers if she should believe Trump about his East Potomac golf course plans. washingtonian.com/2026/10/19/j...

At 10am Judge Ana Reyes will begin an evidentiary hearing in the golf course case at 10am. I'll try to live-blog from the US Courthouse media room for @lawfaremedia.org . This is a case to stop Trump from converting a historic public golf course, open to all, to a Trump style championship course.

The map posted by Trump this morning versus the blurred image on his desk in Katie Zacharia's post. (The White House responded to questions about whether the blurred image was a map of East Potomac by spewing invective.)

This design appears to completely eliminate the much-beloved loop road and public park at Hains Point, and cut down the cherry trees which line the road. The park is a public space used by tens of thousands of Washingtonians and heavily visited by tourists. /photos not my own.

A Scaramucci is ten days (july 21-31). Zacharia was appointed on Oct 9 and lasted till October 16. So a Zacharia is seven days, or 7/10ths of a Scaramucci.

Also good luck to mlb as they try to force a lockout under the “small market teams have no chance” narrative on the heels of the Brewers, Guardians or Rays winning the World Series. Whoopsies!
