This speech is classic Bradford. It is not a concession speech it is a pitch for his next job. My crystal ball says he runs for Ontario PC party leader once Ford runs for Federal Conservative Party leader.
Until then he will be collecting a developer companies paycheque.
Wow the CBC Toronto coverage on the Mayoral campaign is horrible. The Bradford reporter names all of his campaign promises in a positive light, meanwhile the Chow reporter talks about how the campaign room is decorated...

Didn't check the kiln to see what burnout schedule it was on because I barely ever change it... of course I was messing with it last time it was on so I just ruined a tree entirely. Gotta reprint all 5 pieces and re-invest etc. Booourrns
I really hope that the next government that comes in after Doug Ford does a full investigation into every deal he ever made as Premiere. There needs to be a jail cell waiting for him and every one if his cabinet members when he loses the election
One thing about people citing slower car travel times on Bloor West following the bike lane install is, well, that was kind of the point. Drivers were **averaging** nearly 20 km/h over the current speed limit at spots. Road revamp has brought speeds closer to limit. www.toronto.ca/wp-content/u...
In Toronto we've watched police ignore traffic violations for many years (they even lied about enforcing traffic laws - with no consequences) so this is basically the renaissance painting of the Toronto condition.
Every pedestrian, cyclist, and driver death along here belongs to Doug Ford, Prabmeet Sarkaria, and their government. Even though they legislated away the right to sue in advance.

"Fazendeiros dizem que vão invadir territórios indígenas na Amazônia caso Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) vença as eleições de 2026, segundo áudios e relatos reunidos pela Folha."

Indigenous leaders from the Amazon and Canada joined Manitoba NDP Leah Gazan in Ottawa to call for urgent action to address climate emergencies and Canada’s violation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
To commemorate my feelings about unfettered capitalism & the increasing greed among our newest ruling class that keeps pushing us perilously toward fascism I decided to make a pin with an age-old symbol of resistance.
The woman beside him is the leader of the anti-LGBTQ+ and separatist movement in Canada.
Everything from Indigenous rights to protecting minorities goes out the window for the oil and gas lobby
Carney announces the crude oil pipeline to the West Coast, which will almost certainly drive the orcas there to extinction, is designated in the “national interest.”
That means it can bulldoze past environmental laws, impact assessments and Indigenous consultation.
He laughs while announcing it.
I spent the summer trying to understand what makes Mark Carney's government tick. What I found is a C-Suite obsessed with efficiency — which is trying to ignore what's deeply broken. www.thestar.com/opinion/star...
This is a somewhat hot take but I agree with this article overall. We need to be having a more serious conversation about what micro mobility offers and how to build that up than just slamming it all as a menace or looking to restrict and ban it.
This is foul.
A reader reached out and told me the first google result when you search "kamloops unmarked graves discovery" is residential school denial.
I did the search myself, and I found the same thing.
The first non-sponsored result is the Fraser Institute's residential school denial.
Thanks to Andy Donato's cousin, I have Andy's final editorial cartoon that was rejected by The Toronto Sun, resulting in Andy resigning from the paper after 55 years.

the dual purpose of "our AI is getting too powerful!" is firstly to generate hype & secondly to provide a reason to scale it down that isn't uh oh, this nonsense is very expensive and we can't figure out a way to make a profit with it
Companies have turned just about everything into subscription services that users have to pay for. “They get the subscription and our data,” EFF's @ktrendacosta.bsky.social said. “It's a win-win for them and a lose-lose for us.”
When has privatizing something made it better? Private equity's goal is to extract as much wealth out of something as possible, not to make it better than it was when they bought it.
I'm all for going up against the Americans, but being more like the American Government is not how we do it. Giving tax breaks to foreign corporations while paying for it on the backs of the working class through cutting services is not the way. I'm disappointed in what Carney is presenting
'Why are #teachers expected to personally shop for the basic supplies needed to operate a publicly funded classroom? And why is the government’s answer to direct millions of public dollars into a multi-billion dollar private corporation?'

Now to rewrite the column on mobility in Toronto I was just finishing last night as word came that the decision would be released to day.
I am not paid enough to live and work in Doug Ford's Ontario.
Brendan Simms argues in "The Return of the Great Powers" that geopolitical rivalry never actually ceased; dissatisfied imperial powers merely awaited opportunity to press for advantage. Who at this stage can doubt the accuracy of that argument?
Literally bragging about unconstitutional reverse onus provisions on bail, all in the name of co-opting Conservative penal populism.
As I've said, Canadian voters flocked to Carney to avoid Pierre Poilievre, and what they got was Stephen Harper.
Why are car-centric transport systems so difficult to undo? Because automobiles represent the dominance of private property over public space.
In this @urbancyclinginstitute.org essay, I look to history to uncover how we got here. #StealingCars
NEW from me: I took a deep dive for @ricochetmedia.bsky.social into the American hedge fund-owned Canadian newspaper chain that’s pushing anti-trans, pro-genocide and climate science denial narratives down our throats.

This is going to ignite a whole new generation of anti-oil pipeline activism. When will we learn that renewables are cheaper and faster to deploy and don't come with all the risks to the environment.
Alberta and Ottawa said any new pipeline would be privately funded.
Today that promise was broken: a private company will cover just 10%. Taxpayers will front up tens of billions of dollars.
If oil exports are such an economic opportunity for Canada, why won’t companies invest?

Keith Stewart, senior energy strategist for @greenpeaceca.bsky.social, said the plan makes no sense economically or environmentally.

NEW: Barely half a year after the provincial government ordered Toronto to stop issuing speeding tickets from the cameras it had set up across the city, staff say the number of drivers blasting past the limit has increased more than 350%. #Topoli#OnPoliglobalnews.ca/news/1193652...
