Sicario larp in a cybertruck ... kill me

Jared Yates Sexton@jysexton.bsky.social

It really knocks you on your ass when you realize the problem is that the fascists are largely made up of a bunch of grown men in arrested development who spend their adult lives playing pretend and making everyone miserable as they LARP through the world.

It be easier to make a database of Republicans you would leave alone in a room with a child or small animal

Throwback to when I tried to make a website tracking all of the conservative politicians and organizers charged with or convicted of sex crimes and I tapped out shortly after Reuben Verastigui because there were just so many it was impossible to keep track of

Public telephones in Brasil can be quite something, as seen in tonight's 9 o'clock photo. Maringá, Paraná, 18 May 2011 Used to be well used. Card operated, usually cheaper than landline or cell phone. Sometimes only option: with massive radio tower added, provided service where nothing else worked.

Part of my loathing for the Trump admin stems from simply how stupid they assume I am. It's insulting.

Q: How do you define socialism personally? JD VANCE: I think in reality what it actually means in the American context is you want to replace American workers with foreigners workers, and you want boys to play in girls' sports

The DSA flipped more seats this year than the Tea Party did in 2010. It's obvious incumbents everywhere are going to lose.

An interesting theory going around is this a “throw them out” election with serious anger people are feeling really everywhere and why we’re seeing meh results in pretty blue states since they have long been dominated by a single party. Time will tell but it’s a good one to keep in mind

Found the perfect screengrab to use the next time someone tries to tell me I’m missing out on important discourse by not using Elon Musk’s mircoblog site

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Being a libertarian at 22 was great for me, because it taught me that I could be very, very, very wrong about everything. That's an important thing to understand.

and like... I think it's good to audit your beliefs periodically ask yourself: if everyone around you on the left is turning out to be an antisemitic wrecker, how much of your worldview that differs from what's widely accepted in academia, business, and industry comes from antisemitic wreckers?

yeah, the reason republicans are just not going to budge from texas is the reason why armies try not to abandon their capitals. it isn’t necessarily a strategic defeat to lose the seat of power, but it is a profound blow to morale.

GOP ads right now are all about attacking trans people. Over, and over, and over. I was a gay teen in 2004 watching the Bush campaign try to win on attacking gay marriage, but the resort to this hate drive in campaign ads feels so dialed up now. I can’t imagine being an lgbt kid watching tv today.

spot on. being traumatized literally makes it impossible to believe in the future, and this is absolutely a reason you cannot simply "listen to marginalized groups" with total deference on strategy. much of the discourse on here is people with PTSD who believe their death is inevitable

I think a lot about how trauma interacts with politics I do think the burn-it-all-down posture is just foreshortened future lensed into a political identity at least, it certainly was for me. I found that feature of my thinking incompatible with imagining a long term political project

Imagine if the @seattletimes.com and other news outlets were intellectually honest and published, i don't know, charts like this? Seattle is safer than almost all our peer cities, except the other one governed by a Democratic Socialist. Thanks @mayor.seattle.gov and @mayor.nyc.gov!

rondezvousWA@ronpdavis.bsky.social

Today the @seattletimes.com humiliated itself by amplifying a letter from people who don't know/care crime is massively down, demanding a plan to reduce crime& telling the Mayor how to do it. Then not mentioning our crime rate is low and dropping. And pretending that was news. Agenda much?

We have a lot of things in Seattle that have been in planning for two decades. The Denny bus lanes were not one of them. Before January they were deemed impossible, and were planned and executed in eight months.

"Conspiracy theories are the language of the dispossessed" is the "Charlie Brown had hoes" of populism. No they aren't that isn't true.
