The growth in global greenhouse gas emissions has slowed, from 1.7%/year from 1990-2015 to 0.8%/year from 2016-2025.
Nevertheless, global GHG emissions are still at record high levels. Progress?

EU gas is above €90/MWh, its highest since Dec 2022. Brent is above $115, its highest since June 2022.
The EU has already paid €100bn+ extra for oil and gas since Hormuz closed. Not one extra molecule.

Major press failure: treating Jared Kushner taking foreign bribes and shaping US foreign policy as less relevant than Hunter Biden not taking bribes nor influencing policy.
Covering Kushner accurately was considered partisan, biased. Lies about Hunter or his minor actions treated as more important.
Russia-US Ukraine talks increasingly follow the interest of the insider court rather than the nations. This is what neo-royalism looks like.

JUST POSTED: A Russian energy giant has secretly moved to acquire a position in a massive Alaska gas project. Its part of talks between Witkoff/Kushner & Putin. But CEO of US company resigns after learning of Russian money in the project. A wowzer of a story.

Elon Musk is spending hundreds of millions to elect Republicans, an unprecedentedly huge amount from one person, and it’s a lot less than the value of contracts his companies got from this government he paid to elect and worked in.
Many reports say “his own money,” few note unprecedentedly corrupt.
The threat of sanctions finally attracts the attention of Israeli media and voters. Thanks to Netanyahu, who promises Israelis a blockchain based economy to circumvent future sanctions. A massive own-goal just four days before polling day; he seems to be losing his game.
Israeli PM Netanyahu says Israel should prepare for mounting international sanctions and use cryptocurrency in order to circumvent them, in shockingly blunt remarks regarding the state of the country’s economy less than a week before the Knesset election. www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-is...
As @gabyhinsliff.bsky.social says, you’ll never satisfy the far right. They’ve gone from banging on about EU migrants to attacking people who aren’t white. Whatever happens to the migration stats, the bigots will just keep moving the target.

Michael Fusella supported President Trump for nearly a decade.
But as the Iran war drags on and the cost of living continues to climb, the 21-year-old Republican said he feels betrayed by a president who said he’d end overseas conflicts and lower prices.
My brain cannot process this level of corruption.
She was being paid $50 million to engineer a pardon from Trump *while working at the Justice Department* as a "Special Government Employee."
And it worked. He got the pardon, and she got the money.

For Poschardt and those around him it is far more fun to imagine themselves as digital Rolands who have donned meme swords and armour to slay woke Saracens in a quest to save Western civilisation than expend any time or energy on the complex details of how to fix rail, housing or healthcare systems
In the bedrock of my soul I know he started out thinking the press pool was a literal pool and has been seething with disappointment since he discovered the mistake
Telegraph: The White House has blocked the transfer of Patriot missiles to Ukraine, US officials have said. The transfer of interceptor missiles from countries friendly to Ukraine requires the approval of Pete Hegseth.
I’ve been screaming about it for years - you use/sell/donate US tech on US terms
A Franco-German deal to strengthen protections in the Industrial Accelerator Act in exchange for looser combustion engine rules should be finalized “in the next few hours or in the next few days,” EU industry chief Stéphane Séjourné has said.
One of the basic flaws of Trump foreign policy: the inability to understand that durable leverage depends on exercising restraint, maintaining relationships, and speaking quietly.
It’s rather striking how Trump’s ham fisted efforts to help Putin are really hurting him. When the US cut off most aid to Ukraine, that freed them to strike directly in Russia. Now Trump’s financial gift to Russia and internet throttling just encourages Ukraine to hit without limit.
prosecuting Elon for treason committed against the Trump administration would give the case some bipartisan cover and also, more importantly, be extremely funny bsky.app/profile/rinc...

This post has too few likes, so put this in perspective:
1) in 2025, Reform had 268k members, leading all parties on membership. It’s 5th in the ranking of membership gives you a sense of how large the size of private donations is.
2) B. Delo is a crypto exchange guy that has pledged £36M to Reform
Updating my slide-deck for tomorrow's internal-party-politics class.
I suspect the gap between member-sourced and donor-sourced income will be dwarfed for Reform when I repeat this task in a years' time and the Ben Delo donation appears in the 2026 accounts filing.

PM Netanyahu may be seeking to resume military strikes against Iran before the Israeli elections, believing his political strength lies in being a wartime prime minister, according to U.S. officials.

China saved an estimated $14 billion, while EU countries avoided $3.1 billion in oil imports.

The differences between the EU’s radical parties are substantive, not cosmetic. Their opponents should, for once, act strategically and work to drive a deeper wedge between the two groups on existential questions such as those mentioned above.
Pretty extraordinary for the Jewish Chronicle to run an op ed & news story about Nigel Farage warning of antisemitism in the Greens without mentioning that he is the only serving major party leader to have been criticised by Jewish groups for using tropes linked to antisemitic conspiracy theories.
When Ukraine does not stop fighting Russia then Trump will turn around and blame Europeans and Canadians for supposedly sabotaging his party's chances of winning the mid-terms.
The word of the US government is not worth a bowl of spit for the foreseeable future
I doubt Starlink limitations will severely hamper Ukraine's mid-strike campaign as planners in Kyiv have not trusted the US for a while.
From an EU/UK angle I'd worry more about how unreliable US leaders could tamper with basic intel and air defence systems Europe and Canada use
It's pretty simple, really:
Representative A makes outrageous statement.
Media, naturally, give it wall-to-wall coverage.
A day or so later, Representative B steps in to explain that the statement was 'misinterpreted.'
Media then churns out even more coverage on how we ought to 'interpret' claims.
