The entirety of the American press is owned by 8 billionaires who are completely down with the concept of Trumpmerica.

i am inviting anyone from a legacy media organization to explain to me why the house judiciary dems report on trump’s epstein’s ties and multiple allegations of rape isn’t worthy of extensively reporting on. i’m serious. i want to understand.

As predicted, Flávio Bolsonaro did not concede. He’ll ask for the elections to be annulled due to extended polling times. The far-right’s anti-democratic processes have begun. A joke by a sore loser, especially given that his own party also asked for polls to be kept open for an extra two hours.

Absolutely incredible. I admit I’d written him off and I’m so glad to be wrong. Congratulations Brazil!

The thing is, they also blatantly ignore opinion polls when the thing that's popular would reduce the power of billionaires or AIPAC. So the DNC needs a guy like Yglesias to explain why things that poll at 90% popularity are Bad Actually, and should be ignored in favor of 55/45 issues.

ME 1 was Wrex and Liara. ME 2 was Jack and Grunt. ME 3 was … huh, I actually do not recall. I usually selected for balance though as I played an Engineer, so I always wanted meat shields and biotics.

OK who was your ride or die crew in Mass Effect? Mine: Garrus always, Grunt and Legion would swap out depending on the scenario.

🧵 Matt Yglesias is one of the biggest reasons the Democratic Party leadership is so feckless, cowardly, and lazy. I'm not exaggerating. Yglesias is often a featured speaker at private Democratic Party events, despite almost always being wrong. Let's discuss...

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-California) has been taking steps like these to raise his national profile ahead of a possible 2028 presidential campaign. He has been positioning himself to be one of the most appealing candidates to the party’s left wing.

Yglesias shouldn't be welcome in any democracy-oriented gathering. Primarily for moral reasons. But also because he's FUCKING WRONG. Immigration ISN'T as good an issue for Trump anymore precisely because officials like Chris Van Hollen & folks like the Minnesota protesters didn't follow his advice.

As we approach the midterms, remember that the Alt National Park Service is a merch sales operation claiming without evidence to be a group of federal employees, and is not a genuine source of news about elections of any kind. Please get your election info from a local, reputable source.

I truly don't understand peoples' emotional attachment to this platform. It's a total fallacy that people "need" to be on it or that it can be made whole, relevant, and interesting again. That era is dead.

Mike Masnick@masnick.com

Seems relevant to that flood of journalists who in the last few weeks announced publicly that it was okay to return to X, that the platform had gotten better, and the worst aspects of it had been minimized. This is what you have endorsed.

Virtually every governance problem we have boils down to repudiation of the social contract. "Why should we have universal health insurance when I'm not sick/my employer already subsidizes my insurance?" "Why should we have public education when I prefer to send my kids to private school?" etc

When I was young there was this decent hit. Title was, I thought, “Rain” since that was the big title belted out for a good five seconds each chorus. But I barely could remember any lyrics. I knew one line solidly. But no searching found it.

Sophia_Nyx 🐰@sophianyx.bsky.social

Name a song lyric you've misheard.

Then, at the supermarket years after I’d been trying to remember it, it came on. I grabbed my phone to pull up Shazam SO FAST. And I learned not only had I gotten that one line wrong… the title, the one line she sang for five seconds… was “Wait”. It’s Wait by Gyan.
