58 Democrats stood up for an important fact today: Charlie Kirk was the victim of a shooting in a country where he, along with other right-wing extremist influencers, have been inciting violence for years. — Kirk is neither a martyr nor a hero, he is a cause.

Dear God, look at the jobs report revisions for May and June! This is not at all the rosy picture it looked like to economists over the past few months.

I am totally fine with names of powerful Democrats in the Epstein files being named and shamed too. FULL accountability! I’m not here to stick up for any pedophile.

That will tamp down the conspiracy theories

The latest ICE statistics show that as of June 29, there were 57,861 people detained by ICE, 41,495, or 72% of whom had no criminal convictions. So much for the “worst of the worst.”

Which means a baby born in New York to undocumented parents will be a citizen. But a baby born to undocumented parents in Kentucky will not be a citizen. This is madness.

The reason that some will use the Bible to justify the bombing of Iran is because they used it to justify chattel slavery, just as it’s being used to fight for the lives of queer people. The Bible is not a book. It is a mirror. Whatever you’re looking for, you will find. What are you looking for?

NYTimes has a long history of holding conservatives—including its paid columnists, like Stephens here—to absolutely no standards whatsoever, but still worth noting the complete lack of ethics required to not mention how 99.99% of Iran's uranium stockpile was due to Trump withdrawing from JCPOA.

Beyond parody at this point; the week these guys picked sex predators and warmongers over your future

If you thought the tough guys hiding behind masks abducting students, farm workers and people showing up for immigration court are bad now, wait until Iran retaliates.

Must be weird, kidnapping __________ people for ICE when, at any moment, your patriotic terrorism might be sabotaged by an unexpected Trump declaration that __________ people are wonderful and an asset to America.

“Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia.”

for those who still don't get it Nazis want brown people deported, black folk accomplishments erased, women back in the kitchen, LGBTQ back in the closet. Protestors want Nazis gone, preferably back in the hole they came from, because they are aware of the above and want those people to be safe.

The idea that protesters in LA shouldn’t give him a pretext for violence presupposes that he needs or cares about a pretext. If you protesters stay home, then he’s going to keep kidnapping people and use the lack of protests as proof that everyone agrees with him.

Watch the slow motion: it appears to me that the officers discuss the photographer and reporter before the one on the end fires on them (it looks to me like he's aiming at the camera, not the reporter, but you decide)

The minimum acceptable contrition from a Trump voter is to lobby their Republican legislators to stand up against Trump. If you regret voting for this shit, start doing something about it.

There is never a good reason to starve children. There is never a good reason to shoot children in the head. And it’s fucking bleak that I have to spell this out. If you wouldn’t allow it for your kids, why would you work so hard to justify it happening to Palestinians?

for the people in the driver's seat of the right wing cultural movement, an end to "DEI" always meant doing things like sending free money to a white lady who called a child the n word. sorry if you thought it was about a slightly annoying HR webinar you once had to watch or whatever.

Prices will go up. There will be shortages. National parks will be a mess. Air travel, based on what we're seeing in Newark, could go sideways. Measles will spread and fall COVID shots could get delayed. And the president might throw himself a big birthday parade! Widespread anger is coming.

As a journalist who covers extremism at the local level, I think it’s a mistake to view Trump’s Napoleonic statement as solely about presidential power. Consider if it’s interpreted as a wink and a nod for any extremist to act outside the law to “save” the country as they see fit

I want people to understand this. For many of them, democracy ended when Obama was elected twice and Black Lives Matter rose to prominence. This is them “fixing” a system that felt broken and newly unsafe to them.

Drucati@bananarepublicans.bsky.social

What we all seemingly failed to understand is just how many of our "countrymen" were perfectly willing to resort to treason to end democracy. And all in service of a convicted felon and lifelong conman who wasn't even very good at it.

First they came for the brown people, and I did not speak out—because I was not brown. Then they came for the trans people, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trans person…
