Does my Speak-n-Spell feel pain when I type O-U-C-H? The jury is out. Philosophers and neuroscientists say that's fucking stupid, but I called a guy from the Center for Pretending that Household Electronics Are Sentient and he said there's no way to know for sure.

While his mountain of horrible personal conduct could fill multiple books, one fact in particular stands out: A year ago, Musk’s actions directly led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. He did it knowingly. And, worse — gleefully. Read more: www.theverge.com/tech/949259/...

Mark Warner just voted to confirm another Trump nominee today. Specifically, he voted for Ryan McCormack, who was chief of staff for Rep. Scott Fitzgerald from Wisconsin. Fitzgerald voted against certifying Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 election.

Senator Mark Warner@markwarner.bsky.social

We’ve been raising the alarm for weeks about Trump’s attacks on our elections — now we’re getting details about how they might be planning to do it. Let’s be clear: there’s no national emergency. This is a plot to interfere with the will of voters.

The murder of Charlie Kirk was criminal, wrong, and should be condemned. And Charlie Kirk was a horrible, hateful man who spent his life radicalizing young people to embrace their worst demons by targeting women, people of color, immigrants, and the marginalized. I refuse to sanitize him.

My main observation from the last few hours of monitoring US social media is that Democrats are universally denouncing political violence and calling for calm while MAGA are escalating language and openly lusting for retribution against broad categories of people they identity as their enemies.

You know what's crazy? There have been no op-eds or editorial statements in major newspapers this year calling on Trump to resign. None calling for his impeachment. None asking if he's medically fit to be in office. Not one in any major newspaper all year.

Stunning charts show how disproportionately the Roberts Court favors the Trump regime. "This pattern exemplifies what scholars call 'autocratic legalism'—the systematic weaponization of legal institutions to consolidate power while maintaining the appearance of legal process."

Schiff has voted with Trump 32 times since January. He gets on TV to talk tough and then literally votes for Trump’s agenda.

Sen. Adam Schiff@schiff.senate.gov

Donald Trump doesn't care about law enforcement. He cares about power. It's why he's deploying military personnel to Los Angeles. And it's why he pardoned the violent criminals who attacked Capitol Police on January 6th.

Schiff literally just voted to advance Trump’s pick for Assistant Secretary of Defense. You keep talking about how corrupt Trump is and then voting for his agenda.

Sen. Adam Schiff@schiff.senate.gov

The American public deserves to know that those serving at the highest levels of government are free from financial conflicts of interest. Needless to say, this administration appears to be awash in such corruption. I'm determined to get answers.

yeah man, please make my 85 year old great aunt prove her citizenship to vote in rural georgia, this definitely isn’t reminiscent of anything in the american past

Congressman Jared Golden@golden.house.gov

🧵 There are a lot of misleading claims out there about the SAVE Act. Let me set the record straight: I voted for the SAVE Act for the simple reason that American elections are for Americans. Requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote is common sense.

Hi, I'm the guy who wrote the book "Administrative Burdens" and it's just objectively untrue that no one will face "unnecessary burdens" b/c *non-citizens almost never vote! *About 20M citizens don't have access to citizenship documents SAVE solves a non-problem by burdening American citizens.

Congressman Jared Golden@golden.house.gov

Maine's voting culture is the best in the nation. I am confident that under the SAVE Act, our state can both ensure that only citizens can cast ballots and that no one faces unnecessary barriers to registering to vote.

I keep asking: Why does media and Congress treat Trump’s edicts like he can just wave them into reality? Why doesn’t NBC include anywhere in this piece that he CANNOT DO THIS without Congressional approval e.g. 2/3 support of the Senate, which he won’t get? THIS IS MANUFACTURING COMPLIANCE!

Jay reposted

He already has the keys you nitwit, what the fuck are you going to do about it?!!?

Chuck Schumer@schumer.senate.gov

A shutdown would give Donald Trump the keys to the city, state, and country. Musk has said he wants a shutdown, and reporting has shown he is already making plans to use the shutdown to expedite his destruction of key government programs and services.

So what you’re saying is that if the Republicans included a plan to set up firing squads to execute Trump’s enemies, you’d vote for it instead of shutting the government down.

U.S. Senator John Fetterman@fetterman.senate.gov

The weeks of performative “resistance” from those in my party were limited to undignified antics. Voting to shut the government down will punish millions or risk a recession. I disagree with many points in the CR, but I will never vote to shut our government down.
