No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

Spent the past week in Denver. Lovely city, but if there are any locals here I'm curious to know: do drivers actually get ticketed for not having a massive SUV? Or do they skip the punitive approach and simply issue you one when you move here?

James Baldwin on why he did not join the Nation of Islam also offers one of the most cogent explanations for why political Zionism in its current ultranationalist form has been so damaging to Jewish culture.

If you live in SF and vote for this then I'm afraid we can't be friends

How much would it cost the city to reopen the Great Highway to cars? The controller’s office: $9.8 million in one-time costs, plus $500,000 to $1.9 million a year. by @junyaoyang.bsky.social missionlocal.org/2026/08/sf-p...

Was not prepared for how good a recap this is

It took me a while to appreciate Krukow's "squaaaaaat" but its absence is really going to hit me when he's gone

Musk says not a single person has died due to him axing USAID. Sadly, part of my job involves tracking aid spending. So here’s a thread with just some of the people who lost their lives because of USAID cuts

This was a cool one! Got to sit down with @HarvardBiz for a lengthy Q&A on the Iran War and the ongoing, historic energy supply crisis: how it works, how bad it could get, and how decision makers should think about the risk. Check it out: hbr.org/2026/03/the-...

hbr.orgThe Oil Shock Is Here. And We’re Just Beginning to Feel It.The closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which 20% of the world’s oil flows through, is sending shockwaves through the global economy. But how big will this disruption actually be? According to a conversa...

can think of at least 50 artists who, if you gave them each even like 100 thousand dollars, it would absolutely change the culture we live in for the better. 5 million is pocket change in the scheme of things. but we have to live in a world where all of that capital is wasted on bullshit like this.

Even if AI could write a novel what problem has been solved? The problem of knowing what you’re reading was written by another person? Who loves reading novels but hates the part where your mind briefly and mysteriously touched another?

I’ve found that generative LLMs are good at some writing-related things and really really fucking bad at others, and shouldn’t be trusted to do anything on their own. An AI generated novel might be readable in parts, but it’s unlikely to sustain that at length and won’t be … well, novel.

The last few years really should have blown to smithereens the idea that very wealthy people are in any way smarter or better than you and me

one reset I'd personally appreciate: behind the insistence that we must offer the electorate a little bigotry is the idea that commoners are more bigoted than the richer and more educated, who can be appealed to with high minded policy. but then you Ctrl+F "phrenology" in the Epstein files

Highlighting the speaker who stood in front of the Surprise mayor and told him to consider what the Mayor of Ohrdruf must’ve thought before he died by suicide: “He might have thought ‘how is this my fault I had no jurisdiction over this’ maybe he said ‘this site was not subject to local zoning.’”

Fuckin knew it!

Do you remember when people were saying "I think my phone is listening to me, i'm getting ads for stuff I spoke about" and people said "They arent listening to you, they're just this good at predicting your interests"? Well, it happens they were doing exactly that. www.cbsnews.com/news/google-...

It's genuinely a leaderless (or leaderful) movement, decentralized in a way that the state is absolutely unequipped to handle. There are a few basic skills involved, and so people teach each other those skills, and people are collectively refining them.
