I acknowledge the traditional owners of this land on which I live, the melukerdee people of the South East Nation. Sovereignty has never been ceded. It always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

Millions of Australians who switch on Samsung or LG smart TVs are susceptible to being fed populist right-wing news without choosing to watch it, in what experts believe is an opaque commercial deal between the Korean technology giants and Murdoch's media empire that pushes News24 content.

Massive shoutout to @tasland.bsky.social for a fabulous afternoon of science, art and Tassie with their Science Symposium yesterday. Loved all the info about our local plants and wildlife and was especially moved by the talk from Bridget Webster on "Poeisis in the Anthropocene". 10/10 all round. 💚

This is why Musk bought the White House for Trump in 2024. The level of corruption going on inside government is off the charts and I’m sure when this nightmare is over the true extent of that corruption will be way beyond our worst fears 😲🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 Thanks to the MorePerfectUS team for the clip.

I saw some folks asking what the difference was between what OpenAI signed with the DoD and what Anthropic said they wanted, and Sam more or less admits here the key point: OpenAI's deal requires them to trust the NSA. Anthropic's contract had real safeguards.

if you believe in any form of free enterprise at all, the idea that the Pentagon can not only cut off your contract but designate you a supply chain risk and prevent other companies from buying from you just because you won't build killbots for the government should be terrifying

If Russia and China conspired to destroy the U.S. military with a Manchurian candidate I don't think they could have picked a better choice than Hegseth. The damage he's doing will take decades to fix.

Democracy doesn’t mean whoever wins a slight plurality in the national vote gets to rewrite every American institution to satisfy their own whims. The president is not an elected king. If we let him become one, the project of American democracy is over.
