initially when Lucy got announced for Strive i was bummed that it wasn't Vash(Trigun), or Beyond The Grave(Gungrave), but now im hitting a realization that D Edgerunners2 would have been a REALLY good Strive character option

there's a bit in the last episode of edgerunners 2 that im pretty sure is a reference to something else but only one of my friends has seen both things so im sitting here waiting for the people i know who would Get It to finish the show to ask for other opinions

okay so like edgerunners 2 was so much more my kinda shit that im genuinely kind of stunned?? like it's so much more interestingly directed than s1, i like the cast way more, they feel like they got a more balanced focus, no issues with the vfx stuff, great OST and a fantastic eng voice cast. wow!!

couldn't really condense my cyberpunk edgerunners s1 thoughts to a single post and i didn't really wanna make it a thread so im just gonna post a screenshot of a post draft and paste the words as alt text

when edgerunners 2 got announced i was like "yeah, sure, w/e, seems unnecessary" and then they kept announcing shit that made me more and more interested the main 4 designs, hearing it was a different director, the writer mentioning City of God, getting a The Cure song for the OP, that shit hit.

I rotate this dub clip from Cyber City Oedo 808 in my head every couple years.

addendum ig I'd be curious to see a version of this show that released weekly on broadcast television and see how differently it was written/directed/paced. 10 episodes was also an odd episode count to me, I'm not sure if I would have liked it more as a 12 ver or not, interesting to consider though

This article on The House in Fata Morgana is a front for an existential crisis over a defunct history park, which in itself is a front for an article on how incredible The House in Fata Morgana is. Thank you so much to @mothership.blog for letting me write this! It was a really great experience.

LRP: Got told this morning about a recent AI slop fan translation of the OG Angelique (the grandmother of otome games) and I just felt like

like fuck man, I'd love a translation of Angelique! the whole franchise is deeply impactful to the foundation of otome games and had a huge impact on dating sims (arguably as much as tokimemo tbh) but there's no way in hell im playing a translation that's not lovingly crafted by human hands. cmon.

I looked through the last 100 English fan translations published on RHDN (over 3 weeks), and at least 74 are AI translations. I didn't realize this was the current state of the hobby. Make of that what you will.

reading is such a weird personal thing in terms of "how" you prefer to read stuff. i can read a manga on my phone (pref in landscape mode with dual page view), but i prefer to read western comics physically. I'm able to read essays and academia digitally, but fiction feels better in a physical book.

The Dead of the Brain re-release coming out soon lets you swap on the fly between any soundtrack from its various releases and it also includes the PC Engine sound effects as a toggle, this is insane and a very good sign for future PC-98 ports.

Umurangi Generation captured the collective angst of successive generations inheriting a broken world prepared for them like a shit sandwich. Here's my story for Remap about the developer's follow-up, Penguin Colony https://remapradio.com/articles/penguin-colony-wants-the-world-to-open-its-eyes/

Penguin Colony is a good fucking game I will be thinking about for a bit & you should play it. Side note, I want Lenval Brown to just read more stories to me.

gotta run a few minor errands (cleaning/groceries/etc) tomorrow + picking up scrubs for the new job but I'm using up the rest of my remaining PTO whenever i can get it approved, so im getting a 3 day weekend and taking Sunday to chill out and go through Penguin Colony :)

Dozens of games are released every day, but I want to focus on one that hits this week. Penguin Colony It has a very clever pitch: what if you witnessed a Lovecraftian story in Antarctica through the eyes of the local penguins? But there's a LOT more happening here about indigenous art and artists

store.steampowered.comPenguin Colony on SteamCosmic horror, through the eyes of a penguin. Rival human factions have come to your home in the Antarctic, seeking an ancient and inconceivable being. Observe their descent into insanity in this fait...
