Grassroots activism at work * in general, representatives get few calls * 20-30 calls could get them to do something Don't necessarily need a lot of people. Just need enough people willing to do the work.

My grandma died of pancreatic cancer and, as I recall, it's one of the swifter, more devastating forms of cancer. She was gone within a couple months of the diagnosis. This is absolutely incredible.

Dr. Lucky Tran@luckytran.com

The FDA just approved daraxonrasib, a breakthrough drug for advanced pancreatic cancer that doubles survival time. This is huge: pancreatic cancer was once thought untreatable. The researchers received a standing ovation when they presented the trial results, unheard of at scientific conferences.

The Trump Admin is attempting to remove public participation requirements for projects involving the building & modification of air pollutant emitting facilities. We’re opposing. Public participation is critical to ensuring accountability, transparency, and the health & safety of our communities.

🚨 After 40 years of research, Brazilian scientist Dr. Mariangela Hungria wins the World Food Prize for pioneering a $2 nitrogen-fixing bacteria treatment that replaces costly fertilizers, saves farmers $25 billion annually, and cuts 230 million tons of CO₂ emissions.

And yes, there is so much not with the Trump (Regime/Administration) that isn't worth celebrating... But there are a lot of American citizens, history, ideas, principles, values and aspirations that are worth celebrating. The story is still being written. I agree with Richardson: We Are America.

NEW: I've filed a claim with Todd Blanche for compensation from the $1.776B slush fund for the unlawful investigation by the government into my podcast in August 2019. I'm seeking $8.647 million in compensation for weaponized lawfare - the equivalent of punitive damages, lost pay and retirement.

We've been tracking a potential federal detention facility in Gilroy, CA for the past few days, thanks to tips from people on the ground. Still waiting on records requests and additional confirmation before it goes in the tracker... but we're watching it closely.

While we're expecting a blue wave, we're also seeing the influence of extreme money on politics... in this case the GOP. Per Cillizza's analysis, based on Axios reporting, a billionaire has basically selected the representative for a TX district, through a massive spend.

This is in fact one of the things congressional Dems can do - and they're doing it (and have been on this and other topics). Hard to break through, but this one seems to have a bit and even when it doesn't creating a public record is worthwhile.

Jay Kuo@nycjayjay.bsky.social

You may not have heard, but it’s important. Dems are holding shadow hearings on ICE crimes. Witnesses provided harrowing and explosive accounts yesterday. I provide some highlights from the day, and I urge everyone to watch and amplify them. Link in the replies.

I’m seeing posts from people (outside of MN) about how US citizens should carry their passports. And let me say that *inside* MN, we are calmly responding to requests with: “No, I don’t have to show you any documentation.” Because that’s how you protect everyone, regardless of immigration status.

Stars & Stripes is a great paper.

D. Earl Stephens@dearlstephens.bsky.social

📌URGENT: Trump's regime is trying to turn Stars & Stripes into state-run media. I was the ME of S&S. It's MANDATED BY CONGRESS to be an editorially independent paper that reports ON the troops FOR the troops. So I type this with precision: The draft-dodging, America-attacking slob can KISS MY ASS.

The people you elected should know when you have concerns — especially about ICE. Calling members of Congress WORKS. Here's a quick rundown on how to do it.

At a time when federal disaster support is questionable, it's good to invest more effort into personal safety - 60% of people have not practiced/prepared for an emergency - 55% think they can rely on the government to save them Part of being able to take care of others is taking care of yourself.

I am haunted by the ghosts of Iraq and Afghanistan. Those military operations initially went flawlessly but the problem was in trillions of $ spent, thousands of American lives, decades of lost opportunity. Americans have zero appetite for more nation building, endless quagmires.
