CEO-to-worker pay ratio in 1965: 20-1 CEO-to-worker pay ratio in 1990: 75-1 CEO-to-worker pay ratio today: 325-to-1 Trickle-down economics was always a sham. Nothing has ever trickled down.

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

Trump's move to ban outlets he doesn't like from reporting inside the White House comes amid a wave of bad news less than 2 months before the midterms: *Record diesel prices, $4+ gas, ~7% mortgages, higher interest rates, high fertilizer prices, ~$7 beef. *Terrible polling for Rs, Trump *Etc Etc Etc

Always fun to find out you have to pay $$ for a doctor’s visit that your $$$$ insurance should have covered because they are out of network even when your insurer’s website *still* claims they are in network. Anthem Blue Cross can kiss my ass.

I’m not sure what’s going on in my yard this year but this (hummingbirds SHARING a feeder) is somehow a daily occurrence. (Pardon the shaky video, was trying not to spook them.)

Highlighting the speaker who stood in front of the Surprise mayor and told him to consider what the Mayor of Ohrdruf must’ve thought before he died by suicide: “He might have thought ‘how is this my fault I had no jurisdiction over this’ maybe he said ‘this site was not subject to local zoning.’”

For Californians receiving scary mailers about Sacramento raising gas prices from “Californians for Affordable and Reliable Energy,” that group is primarily funded by the oil and gas industry (which I guess I didn’t need a Google search to figure out, lol).

Emily Heller, an eyewitness, is speaking out to set the record straight. Officers were screaming at Renee Nicole Good, “Move, move, move.” So she moved, and they shot her multiple times? Then Noem and Trump branded her a domestic terrorist. Does everyone see how absolutely insane that sounds?

Just in case any journalist or editor reading this is tempted to minimize Trump's Reiner post because it's a "showbiz thing" and "real" stories are happening: No. It's a President thing and a decency thing, and if you don't understand that those things are newsworthy, you are failing in your duties.

Alan Dershowitz is one of those claiming Epstein was not a pedophile because he pleaded guilty to one count of having sex for money with a 17-year-and-10-month-old person. "That’s not a pedophile." See this important response from Julia Brown, the brave reporter who broke the news on this

Your local freelancer here.... if the ACA subsidies get axed, this is genuinely really scary. I'm very fortunate that I live in California where they also have subsidies at the state level, but many people in the other 49 will be priced out. Please call your reps!!!

Walmart, McDonalds and Amazon are the largest employers of people who require SNAP assistance. The CEOs earned between 18-40 million last year, 1000x their median employee income. They took billions in profits, while their workers relied on SNAP to survive. Wanna fix fraud and abuse? Fix that.

Jen Brown reposted

What did people do before SNAP?” They died. Healthcare, vaccines, disability support, education & food assistance are vital to our survival. They’re why the average lifespan isn’t 35 anymore The mark of a good & decent society is whether it sees the value in helping others.

The Walton family (who own Walmart) are worth over $400 billion, yet many of their employees are on SNAP. Bezos is worth over $400 billion, many Amazon employees require SNAP. The people who need help are not the problem. It’s corporate greed. It’s an unwillingness to pay a living wage.

I did not enjoy writing this; it can't even serve as an ad for my newsletter, which I've suspended due to an overbilling situation that has me almost regretting leaving Substack. But, you know, it's evidence for the piece I just didn't get to include. talkingpointsmemo.com/tpm-25/patro...

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.

California, this November 4th, the whole country is counting on you. Prop 50 puts our elections back on a level playing field, preserves independent redistricting over the long term, and lets the people decide. So return your ballot today. Vote yes on 50.
