I'm going to put away my 40p for ten weeks, then splash out on 5-pack of Creme Eggs from Tesco. How will you spend yours?

Saul Staniforth@saulstaniforth.bsky.social

Jon Kay to Jonathan Reynolds: "You're planning to remove import taxes from products like chocolate, gherkins, marmalade. Your own figures say that will save the average household 40p a week. At a time when [bills] are going up, do you really think people are going to notice 40p a week?"

FFS, BBC! The man is a nobody. Latest polls put Reform crashing and him and Polanski personally behind every other party leader. He was even below Restore's Lowe. Just ignore him.

Just listen to this. Then consider these polls: 76% of Jewish Israelis think there are no innocents in Gaza (Aug 2025) 82% support expelling Palestinians from Gaza (May 2025) 47% support killing all inhabitants of conquered enemy cities (May 2025)

Went to Tesco (yes I’m slumming it). Wasn’t allowed in as I was wearing a poppy. When I did get to the shelves they were bare (thanks Wes Streeting). Finally got to cashier who cupping her hand over her mouth said," there is only one person capable of fixing this, Liz Truss.”🤪

A worrying look at the state of NHS children's services. As community care waiting lists continue to grow, more children are ending up in hospital wards for conditions like bronchiolitis that should be supported earlier in the community. Read here: www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...

Another wasted opportunity. Blair/Brown had 14 years to reverse the worst effects of Thatcherism. Instead they embedded it into every public body. And here we are again, another landslide government and no clue how to use it.

This morning on BBC Breakfast, Nigel Farage said he had received “zero help from the state” with his security. Yet reports say he had previously received publicly funded protection and was offered a taxpayer-funded package including a bodyguard, a secure car and a trained driver.

This is absolutely intolerable. How is this impartial? When is the Government going to grasp the nettle and remove all the political appointees at the BBC replacing them with appointees based on ability and a sworn commitment to the old impartiality? The BBC might also then recover some viewers.

This went on for the rest of the full hour, at which point the BBC apologised for having to go to the weather and urged viewers to follow continuing live coverage on iPlayer. Forty-one minutes of unfiltered, unchallenged propaganda by a far right party with 8 MPs, now third in the polls. Discuss.
