Well, he says it will not be happening "in this parliament", Labour will put joining the Eu somehow in the next election. Now, looking at FoM, it's good that he is talking about this. And I hope he makes the case that it is a 2 way street.

I think if any political party wants a vote winning policy it’d be stamping down on data centres, calling a complete halt, bringing in the most massively stringent conditions on data purpose, energy usage, environmental and light pollution, and water use - in each and every single case.

💚🙏👇 Microsoft wants to build three massive AI data centres in Leeds. It’ll drain thousands of litres of water from the River Aire and become the city's biggest carbon emitter. We can still stop the council's final sign-off, but we need more voices. Add your name: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/pr...

Wasn’t it Deloitte that helped the Abramovich tax evasion scam?

Prem Sikka@premnsikka.bsky.social

CEO of scandal-ridden Deloitte gets 45% pay rise to £7.1m, 1,360 jobs cut. CEO pay = 93 times median employee pay. Firm doesn't pay employer NIC on profits shared by partners, worth £150,000 for £1m profit shared. £899m shared. 108 govt contracts in 2026, worth £650m. Friends in high places.

I notice many english talk about the EU as if it's still 2016. The EU has moved on a lot since then. It's ditched the USofE idea...it doesn't scale well and it's moving away from bespoke deals or cherry picking.

Sylvian Kahns «L'Europe : un État qui s'ignore» argues the EU has accidentally built the "new state": mutualising sovereignty while promoting the freedom of member states. A quick 🧵on the crossroads the EU faces as it expands east and Canada says hi. TL;DR: "Atlanticism is dead. Long live the EU".

#bbcbreakfast Brexit has not been “reopened because of Andy Burnham”, but because: - it’s turned out to be a costly mistake - geopolitics shows we can’t rely on the US, but need to work with our neighbours with whom we share common interests - the public has turned against it

Repealing all remaining EU laws would destroy UK trade. That's why the Tories never went through with it. As every economic and business expert explained in 2016, the UK economy is wedded to EU regulations whether we are in or out. Divergence just means more paperwork for businesses

Jenrick has set out how Reform would maximise our “Brexit freedoms”. And this is their list. This is the very best they can come up with. “Re-legalise imperial units” It’s truly pathetic that this is the pinnacle of their Brexit fever dream. And that anyone would still back this ruinous idiocy…

Burnham felt he needed to get Rejoiners back on board so talked a bit about reversing Brexit. Now he‘s realised half his Labour cabinet are Lexiters he is chickening out. He‘s Starmer 2.0 with better social media packaging. Back to trying to cherry-pick the EU and failing

fionn114.bsky.social reposted

For a while I was optimistic about Andy Burnham. I thought he was a man prepared to argue for a good solution and carry people with him, unlike Keir Starmer. Now he says he would “never move ahead of the British public when it comes to Brexit". Disappointing, even if the public is now pro Brexit.

You can’t move forward until you can accept failure, simply hanging on to slogans ‘once in a generation’ doesn’t help progress. Labour must be progressive & the red wall argument undermines its very being.
