I write stories and make music and videos and digital paintings and iOS apps and whatever

Nothing and no one should stand between New Yorkers and their right to vote — least of all the government.
Early voting is happening now through November 1.
Election Day is November 3. See you at the polls!
I have 2 small kids and I love TV and movies so I'm walking a tight rope when it comes to Screen Time, and one of the tricks I've learned about is that people will use quick cuts to trap kids' attention, which is another reason "look at this AI 'movie' that's all 3-second shots" is troubling.
Adults are, after all, just bigger versions of kids. We're just as susceptible to these deliberate erosions of our attention and our ability to process information. They finally found a way to make us all dumber in exchange for machines that can make it seem to enough people like we're not.
They're turning everyone into Elon Musk: a hollow-minded gullible lazy self-important credit-stealing dipshit with the resources to make it seem like he's smart to dumb people. "I made this." No you didn't, a computer did. "I thought this." Nope. "I knew this fact." A computer whispered in your ear.

Over the last 6 years I've gotten into the semi-subconscious habit of counting out the seconds between cuts in the stuff we watch, as part of the "is this mentally healthy for my kid to watch?" calculus, and boy shit howdy, am I ever worried about normalizing "every shot is 2 seconds long" garbage.
Really funny to think about how badly 2024-2025 Bluesky libs lost the "Democrats shouldn't focus on kitchen table issues" discourse. El Sayed out here literally talking about eggs
Listening to the second season of Sold a Story and pulling my fucking skin off. Jesus Christ, how much of our world has been ruined by a single man with too much power and a grudge? No wonder we’ll be obliterated by climate change.
something i don’t see discussed much is that even if it wasn’t stained with bigotry, harry potter is something you probably should’ve just like… grown out of at some point, rather than integrating it into your adult identity
This is an important idea everyone needs to absorb: the history is already documented. We don't need bad shit to remain around just because of its "historic value". We have this yearning for permanence that's just not necessary or useful, an extension of a desire to keep action figures in boxes.
if you give a moment's thought to hitler's crash pad catching fire beyond "i hope the trees are ok" you need to be shaken until you don't even remember that moment. there are pictures. history is preserved there.

Hitler's Eagles Nest (Kehlsteinhaus) deliberately destroyed today.
Part of me likes history being preserved, but another part of me doesn't give a shit, it was a monument to one of history's most evil men.
Thoughts?
We tried "everyone is entitled to an opinion" for three straight decades and all we have to show for it is four thousand cases of measles and a death cult running the government. It's time for people who don't know what they're talking about to shut the fuck up.
a great reminder that Matt Yglesias is wrong about everything and you really shouldn't listen to him on anything.
like, he's the very embodiment of everything people hate about liberals.
A helpfully clear exchange here
Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028."
Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"
i wonder what percentage of the electorate now understands that this man and maybe 75 other people like him are actively trying to destroy our lives. that he is the biggest national security threat we have faced, even moreso than bin laden or whoever. its got to be dawning on more and more people
NEW: Elon Musk gave his super PAC $76 million in just two weeks of October, and more than half of its new candidate spending went to one race: the Texas Senate fight against James Talarico. He’s now given more than $445 million this cycle, far more than he spent electing Trump.
I would never in a million years design such an obvious and heavy-handed torture simulation. I mean, Donald Trump as President? Jesus, at least put a little gloss on it. Y’know? If you’re gonna go through all the trouble don’t just leave a bunch of exposed wires that give the whole thing away.
Working on a remake of the Flash game Don't Shit Your Pants as an open-world roguelike where you start out the game constantly losing by shitting your pants until you earn enough XP to level up and get upgrades that will help you stop shitting so much
You'll hear conservatives say that mental illness started with Millennials, then you read a 200 year-old book and it's all gay guys throwing themselves on the ground in weeping fits or manic ladies beating their brains out against the wall and everybody's like, "Yeah that happens sometimes."
The biggest danger to this administration is being a non-white person who is funnier and better at posting than them. That's why they're arresting this woman's family members for running a weed store two weeks before an election. She has the juice and that's dangerous.
"The 26-year-old Tesla driver from San Francisco stopped and cooperated with police, providing dash cam footage CHP said. 'The driver stated the vehicle was being operated in Full Self-Driving (FSD) autonomous mode at the time of the crash,' CHP said..." www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti...
If you like Marry Me Chicken you might also enjoy Fuck Me Chicken but I would probably avoid making Kill Me Chicken even though it's by far the easiest of the three recipes
it's 2030. there is one american game job. the game is a result of the fortnite-roblox merger. they added gatchas and ads exclusively for prediction market platforms. while you work on it, jared kushner and a random c-suite with at least 3 sexual assault cases take turns yelling at you.
1999: Wow the internet is so incredible, this is going to revolutionize everything. Collaboration is the cornerstone of civilization and this is a huge leap forward.
2026: If you spell out "sex", "die", "death", or "suicide", the 3 websites nobody ever leaves will hide everything you say forever.
ICE and the deportation machine have made it harder for migrant sex workers (and other workers) to come forward about trafficking.
Racism, stigma and criminalization of work sectors (including Nordic/Equality) help fuel exploitative situations.
It's really fucked up that "let a billionaire talk at millions of people" is considered a normal thing in our society, as if they have anything to contribute, considering the only thing they're good at is exploitation which is the opposite of contribution.
Going for the This Week Fuckup Trifecta and having AI make a painting of my wife on the toilet crashing out on LinkedIn over Halloween decorations, with an accidentally transphobic caption that I run with because of the wordplay
It’s all such stupid shit and this doesn’t really matter but I think the next President should unilaterally rename the United States “New Ontario”, rename Lake Ontario “Lake Mexico”, and rename the Gulf of Mexico “Gulf of Canada” as a petty pointless “eat fuck” to Trump.
Even as someone who isn't a fan of the USSR, this is woefully inaccurate, on top of being incredibly transphobic in its own right.
This is the USA with its mask of "democracy" ripped off.
Also, even though I'm a cis-het man, I know for a fact that this isn't how being transgender works.
It's a real bummer Larry David had the most boring, unfunny, unoriginal takes on DSA's policies and ideals. I always saw him as a contrast against teen-dater zionist Jerry Seinfeld, but apparently they're more similar than it seemed. Also sucks to see it in the form of 1990s-era "anti-P.C." garbage.
I'm willing to bet you could dig up some right-leaning "humor" essay from like 1999 that shows the same almost-verbatim opposition to the "P.C. police". It's interesting that the more someone's ideals lie toward the right-wing, the less original their ideas/thoughts/output all becomes.
