THIS is why the establishment and moderate dems are terrified of DSA and are desperate to paint them as extremists.

Mamdani got into office and instantly: • Froze rent for 2 million New Yorkers • Cut subway fares in half for low-income riders • Fully funded NYC parks • Added $680M for public schools • Launched free child care for 2-year-olds If establishment politicians actually wanted to help you, they could.

Wild that people who believe their god, which created all the creatures of land, sky, and sea AND knows every hair on your head (x8B+), would then limit themselves to the creation of only two genders 🤔

“Loitering is not permitted in this area. Please proceed to a designated location. Thank you for your cooperation,” a surveillance machine tells a small cluster of National Guard members as they patrol the fenced off Reflecting Pool in the rain.

AOC on possibly running for the Senate or President: They assume my ambition is a title or a seat. My ambition is way bigger than that. My ambition is to change this country. Presidents come and go, elected officials come and go, single payer healthcare is forever.

When you see a roof without a solar panel that shows you that your government isn’t taking the energy and climate crisis seriously. Panels are cheap, and so is the process to install them. Governments should be funding the Great Upgrade to turn every roof into an energy producer. The oil age is over

Once POTUS designates one cartel a terrorist org and uses military force to hamper its operations, while pardoning the president and leader of a cartel from another country, we aren’t fighting a war against drugs, we are picking sides in a cartel war and serving as muscle for one side ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Imagine a world where these amazing journos could go start their own publication because they didn’t require a corporate overlord to provide their healthcare.

thank you for the outpouring of support! those of us laid off from Teen Vogue yesterday are now sharing our GoFundMe to help us cover our emergency expenses now that we've lost our incomes, as we get back on our feet.

I have approximately zero following on this app, sharing in the hopes it can get in front of the right person. A man I went to college with’s wife was kidnapped by ICE at a green card hearing, and he’s trying to find a reporter who will speak to him about the situation

This here is honestly the bigger story in this whole mess. While Disney and the FCC are getting deserved ire, Sinclair, a wolf in local news clothing, is more dangerous than any of the other right wing outlets because most consider them neutral. More need to discover the extreme bias they lead with.

Judd Legum@juddlegum.bsky.social

1. Sinclair, which owns dozens of ABC affiliates, played a key role in forcing Jimmy Kimmel off the air. Sinclair's "news desk" then produced a special on Charlie Kirk, which was supposed to air during Kimmel's time slot It presents Kirk as a prophet

This, so much this. Screaming it from the rooftops.

Make no mistake: Alligator Alcatraz IS a concentration camp, and they absolutely ARE planning genocide and ‘ethnic cleansing.’ As a white person, i don’t know what I can do to help, but if all I have is my voice, I will make sure it’s heard.

now this is the kinda shit im talkin about. saguaro cactus. hell yeah. these bad boys can sequester the carbon equivalent of 40 gallons of gas, not releasing carbon back into the atmosphere during decomposition but interacting with the soil to create the mineral calcium carbonate(just a fuckin rock)

Let's talk about these two department store owners: brother and sister Louis Bamberger and Caroline Bamberger Fuld. From Newark, New Jersey. They are random people, basically. But in the late 1920s, with fascism taking over Europe, they made a choice that profoundly changed the world: 🧵

&, hey, if journalists don't want to listen to me, maybe they'll listen to ChatGPT! Again, in the spirit of "playing around" w/ ChatGPT, not doing serious analyses, I asked it to evaluate the article in the context of the authoritarian playbook. Here's what AI--not a hysterical Dem--came up with

it's important this go as viral as the original story for morale purposes if nothing else. despite the image they project these people are NOT unaccountable. consequences CAN be forced. focused anger and outrage MATTERS.

At what point does the legacy media begin reporting how Republicans and their policies are bad for the economy? Remember, there is a track record, beyond this current train wreck they created and continue to stand by and watch. Since the policies benefit the top and screw the bottom, never?

The world no longer considers the US a safe haven investment Guessing that’s not great.

Andy Vitek@avitek.bsky.social

For the layman, US treasury bonds have long been the safest of safe investments, meaning when the market tanks, people start buying bonds. In these cases, the 10-year yield goes down because bonds are being bought vs sold. If the yield goes up as the markets goes down, that is bad. Very bad.

That's cuz it's all about the oligarchs. ALL! it has nothing to do with people or compassion. It's all about making a few people richer and himself seem more powerful. But power only counts when you're doing what's right.

Sleepy Joe and his team did what was said impossible, threading the needle of a soft landing by reducing the rate of inflation without killing growth or spiking unemployment. Instead of building on that success the current admin is using that needle to stab the economy in the eye.

This is such a smart take. At what point do people realize that Rs are not ‘better for the economy’ when in reality they are only really better for corps and the uber wealthy who get deregulation and tax cuts that allow them to cut corners & take a bigger slice of the growing pie than before.

Jess Calarco@jessicacalarco.com

The problem is: they've mistaken correlation for causation. They think their parents and grandparents had a good life *because* of manufacturing jobs. When, in reality, their parents and grandparents had a good life *despite* manufacturing jobs, because of unions, high taxes, and social policies.

EOs are not laws and the sooner our institutions start standing up to them instead of accepting them as such, the chances of preserving democracy increase.

This IS the slippery slope…. This IS ‘first they came for…’ This IS a constitutional crisis… This IS the end of American democracy… There is no one coming to save us, we have to do it ourselves

If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.
