Dick Cheney’d as a verb could mean: 1) runs a search committee only to choose oneself 2) shoots a friend in the face 3) uses nine lives on heart attacks

the thing about this is that the L.A.Times is basically pre-emptively anouncing their intention to publish fallacious and defamatory material

Well this is eleventy-million kinds of Fucked Up. @latimes.com (who once contracted with me as a freelance reviewer and whom I struggled to get paid by) asserts that *merely reading its website* constitutes a permanent waiver of your right to sue it under *any circumstances*.

We found that as of right now 73% of your campaign donation goes back to the consultants and vendors (!!!), four times more than just 20 years ago. Only 13% to ads. Even I was shocked.

A lot of dictatorships try to make these kind of arrangements when things go south. Important to remember there are other kinds of criminal, civil and reputational accountability pardons can’t touch. And if you’re pardoned you have no 5th amendment rights.

seeing Elon go on a multi-day crashout about Talarico has really highlighted how psychologically devastating it would be to Republicans if they lost Texas. So much of their self-identity is tied to repping Texas as the anti-California and would be shattered if the state even tipped blue.

The piece was getting pretty long but I will add here that of course one thing incivility earns you that politeness doesn’t is attention. It’s an important hack to use the current attention economy to your advantage.

Right-wing billionaires now own the Washington Post, the LA Times, CNN, CBS News, virtually every local TV station, virtually every news radio station, most local newspapers, X, Facebook, Threads, and TikTok. (Did I miss any?) They own almost the entire information environment.

Spot on!

Thank you! I listened to the most infuriating "Pod Save America" with @davidaxelrod.bsky.social where he criticized both El-Sayed and Ossoff for being meanies to their opponents. Dem voters have been begging for this shit, Axe has been the one advising against it. Beat it, Axe, we're sick of you.

it makes sense that Moreno is not exactly in a rush to celebrate with his family and he's definitely a "I only have a few weeks left to suck shit" guy but I'm wondering where this sudden work ethic is going to come from in his caucus. McConnell is working harder than most and he's a vegetable now

I was today years old when I learned about Matthew Morrison's September 11 cabaret show. Imagine suddenly being burdened with this knowledge.

In case you were wondering why I was in favor of this…

This is actually a solid use of $3.6 million on multiple levels. There are a LOT of partner abuse survivors out there, and we like seeing a political leader standing up against abusers with more than just rhetoric.

There's a Politico (lol) piece entirely about how Republicans' hope right now is that the polls are all way off and they only get a MILD wipeout and first of all it's full of a bunch of nonsense but the best part is how it ends on this incredible bit:
