A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...

helenwebberley.comAre transgender sports bans really about protecting women? | Dr Helen WebberleyThe data says no. Those most hostile to women are most in favour of banning trans athletes.

These late, flailing legal actions the Trump admin is taking against voters and voting — I don’t believe they’re the goal. I think they’re the groundwork for whatever this admin has planned for after the election.

Sent this to my Gen Z voter to encourage her to keep trying to turn out her peers

Surveys show an age gap across the top issues on California’s ballot, including taxing billionaires and requiring IDs to vote. But while Gen Z makes up 30% of the state’s eligible voters, they are far less likely to vote than their counterparts age 55 and older. cal.news/4e1fgZv 📸 Larry Valenzuela

In a just world, taxpayers choose elected representatives to decide how their collective tax dollars are spent, but billionaires think that by virtue of being special little boys who get away with breaking the law, they alone get to decide how billions are spent and we should worship them for it

This! This is what I’ve been trying to say. These legal actions (lawsuits, warning letters, raids, etc.) that are obviously not going to hold up — that was never the intention. Rather, they’re the foundation for what comes next.

NEW: Trump is already working to undermine the midterms, most ominously by filing lawsuits likely aimed at laying a foundation to challenge results or contest certification after Election Day. And administration officials say there could be more to come. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Today LA County responded to DOJ’s request that a court order California officials to set aside ballots from some 20,000 voters that the DOJ says it thinks might be non-citizens. The county’s preliminary analysis of the list is devastating for DOJ, though not at all surprising.

NEWS — The Trump administration sued Alaska over Dan J. Sullivan’s Senate candidacy, arguing voter confusion could affect the race between Sen. Dan S. Sullivan and Democrat Mary Peltola, per Courthouse News.

The moral rot is top-to-bottom in the GOP. But let’s focus on the more specific issue here: Trump and his party like rape. Whether it’s child abuse or campus sexual assault, they think rape is ok. Maybe they even think it’s funny.

The kid and I went to our neighborhood #NoKings event this morning at a busy intersection outside a mall in suburban Los Angeles. Folks are out there every Saturday. It’s upbeat. Peaceful. Safe.

This event is big enough to have safety coordinators, mostly crossing guards. As I crossed back towards my child, a Cadillac SUV inched through the pedestrians in the crosswalk. A crossing guard tried to stop them.

We were crossing under the “walk” signal, but the Cadillac SUV drove through the crosswalk anyway, forcing us to evade her and hitting the crossing guard, before taking off.

Billionaire families have spent $1.7 BILLION on the 2026 midterms so far — a 5,200% increase since the 2010 midterms. Citizens United is among the worst decisions in history. It corrupts our system every day. Big Money is the root of our dysfunction.

The First Amendment wasn’t actually “first.” The original First Amendment was meant to ensure that the House of Representatives grew in loose proportion to the country. Instead, the House’s size hasn’t changed since 1911. Today’s “One First” on that history—and the problems a capped House creates:

Something AI is responsible for that doesn't get enough talk: How, when it scrapes a website to illegally steal everything on it, it uses up a ton of its bandwidth allotment, crashing it or racking up massive fees for site owners.

Yet again, the Game UI Database is being scraped to the point that it's getting knocked offline. Even Cloudflare's "I'm under attack" mode isn't working. I just wanted to create a resource for real designers. I'm getting so fucking sick of this.

A tiny bit of gentle advice for the men: before you try to explain or pontificate anything about the Cornell 7 to a woman, please remember chances are she’s already an expert 🙏🏻

All of this. I also want to add that, in my research, I found that a lot of “inconsistencies” in a victim’s story actually came from gender bias affecting investigators’ record keeping and interview methods.

Just a reminder that people don’t always realize they were raped in the immediate aftermath. It can take hours, days, months, and even years to realize you were raped, and it doesn’t make it any less true. There are many kinds of responses, including fawning and trying to appease your rapist

Rich people just sit on their wealth like Smaug the Dragon, don't turn it over in spend which causes production which creates more wealth... Updating this year-old post with recent Velocity of Wealth numbers. Using somewhat different measures but the story’s the same. Graph/data link in reply. ⬇️

Steve Roth@steveroth.bsky.social

"That's just distribution," right? Econs are blind to the massive *economic* effects from insane wealth concentration. Wealth concentration here (top 1%) vs wealth velocity — how fast total wealth gets turned over in spending each year. More concentrated wealth, less spending a.k.a. GDP.

Please try to reclaim your precious precious attention, at all costs. Do puzzles. Take walks without a phone. Dear god, try to read, almost anything that isn’t a manifesto will really do. You are going to need your brain.

Someone sponsored beautiful memorials for Eliana, George, and the three other men killed in the dual accidents last week. My family and I stopped by with flowers to pay our respects.
