Slippin’ rippin’ dang fang rotten zarg barg-a-ding dong! You're going out to do some shooting at the Botanical Gardens on a Friday night! The Gardens are always beautiful at night, and you haven't done any shooting much in a couple weeks. You park, you grab your camera, you turn it on... ...but it…

I don’t think this is exactly what’s going on, or all that’s going on. It’s not that Republicans are constructing an elaborate psychological defense against evidence that Trump is a rapist. It’s that they like that he’s a rapist, and they like rape: it enacts the power of the strong over the weak.
The vile attacks on Amy Acton need to be seen in the context of a party that *needs* people to believe women fabricating sexual assaults is common as rainwater. Because it’s pretty much the only way to evade the conclusion that the president is a rapist.
A Theft of Sundays This week's Sunday Stealing quiz is pretty straight-forward stuff about "adulting". (And honestly? I have to conclude that at 55 I'm still not that good at adulting, so maybe it's just not gonna happen.) The Grown Up Meme 1. Do you have a college degree? Yes! B.A. in Philosophy…
Mr. Alexander here is a vile piece of racist filth who, when he washed out as a cop someplace got a new job because there's always a small town that will hire an ex-cop SOMEWHERE, no matter why they're an ex-cop. And he's spending all his time rounding up Latinos for ICE.
Alexander said he moved back to Ingram, where he started his law enforcement career years earlier, after losing his last job at the county sheriff’s office.

"Right now, we’re living in Trump’s world, in Vance’s world, in Hegseth’s world. This is what a world without empathy looks like. It’s a world of constant othering, of constant rage, of a constant belief that life is a zero-sum game. But nothing flourishes in that world." — @snipy.bsky.social
Tuesday Tones (Saturday edition) Oof, that was a week. Just busy as shit, and The Wife got sick. (She's on the mend, we'll all be fine, last night I loaded her up with Hot and Sour Soup and her favorite Curry Chicken and she even had some of my Pad Thai.) The week was obnoxious enough that I…

After complaints about Timothy Dexter's A Pickle for the Knowing Ones (1797) being entirely devoid of punctuation, in future editions the eccentric businessman supplied a supplemental page so that people “may peper and solt as they please”: https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/dexter-pickle

it’s really telling how Tommy refuses, even when pushed, to say why he wants El-Sayed to disavow the Muslim Brotherhood even though everyone in the room knows the reason these guys are almost all cowards in person
This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.

Something for Thursday Some weeks I know what I want to feature here. Other weeks, not so much, so I do other things, like what I did today: On my way home from work I did not listen to a podcast, but rather played WNED Classical (which isn't actually called that anymore, now it's BTPM Classical,…

Tuesday Tones Continuing a look at autumnal music, we have today a symphony by a 19th century composer whose work was highly regarded in his day but who is mostly forgotten now. Swiss composer Joachim Raff lived for 60 years, 1822 to 1882, and he was very prolific and popular during his lifetime.…
At some point I realized I didn't care much about sports back then, and my friends and classmates weren't much into the same things as me (or if they were, the intensity wasn't there).
QUESTION OF THE DAY: This sounds like a joke question, but it isn’t. If it doesn’t apply to you, fine. But it’s a serious question with different levels of meaning. And I am genuinely curious. When did you first realize you were weird?

Sunday Stealing, Monday edition This week's quiz has no theme, so I'm not even going to post it on Sunday! So there! 1. What was the last gift you received? The Daughter gave me a birthday present: a 12-inch record that had been etched out with Star Wars designs. It's really cool! I need to figure…

I double-checked this on a couple of Xitter stat sites and it's true. Average views of the main AfD account dropped 90% and average engagement dropped by 60%. This is commercial social media for you: bots, damn bots and Russian bots.
We’ve been talking about this for years. None of these far-right movements are organic.
“Sometimes I just sits and thinks, and sometimes I just sits” The post title is from a poster that hung on the wall of the Band Room when I was in high school. I think the animal pictured was a monkey or an orangutan or something of the ape variety...I could look it up, but it doesn't matter. What…
I'm always flummoxed by this. I have never once had any major issue with managing my overalls in the bathroom. In fact, I find them easier to deal with than regular pants with belts. Doubly so at work, when I usually have tools and stuff on me that add annoying weight to my pockets.
Overalls: 10/10 outfit. Bathroom convenience: requires a project manager. 🚽😂 Serious question, Kings: Would easier bathroom access make you more likely to wear overalls? 👑 YES or NO? #KalmKing #Menswear
I suppose Doug Ford is a good reminder that electoral malpractice isn't just something that the American people do.
"Ripping out these protected bike lanes against the will of Toronto city council is a colossal waste of $48 million. The province’s own experts know it will not ease traffic congestion, it will put people’s lives at risk, and there is no network of side streets that could replace these lanes."

Something for Thursday Composer George Fenton has died. He was a prolific film composer, and he was one of those guys whose work is good and yet whose work I have never really explored deeply except for seeing quite a few of the movies he scored. That's more on me than a statement on him;…

Tuesday Tones More autumn music today. My old friend Robert would have loved this one...and actually, I'm sure he did. Gerald Finzi was one of his favorite composers, and Finzi did not have a large output, by any means. He was more prolific as a choral and vocal composer, but he did produce a…
Hmmm. I'm not sure if a show has ever descended into badness SO completely that it outshadowed the parts of the show I loved, but CASTLE sure got close. Comics, though? I will never forgive SAGA for how shitty it got by the time I stopped reading it.
What TV show got so bad it effectively destroyed your appreciation for the show when it was was good?
