It's out! Are you nervous about rebuilding government capacity to do anything beyond corporate giveaways and/or fascism? Then you care about civil service hiring dysfunction & the ron swanson-pilled mythologies that made it like this. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.... aulawreview.org/blog/federal...

Belatedly sharing my latest article, forthcoming (soon!) in the American University Law Review. I argue that federal hiring dysfunction is an overlooked obstacle for progressive efforts to structurally & intellectually rebuild a hollowed-out regulatory state. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

If you're wondering why Flock leaves cameras up after a contract end, part of their business model and marketing strategy is being able to advertise that their customers can access data from cameras all over the country. You may have canceled your contract, but the cameras still fuel the system.

Often, corporate practices that steal time and money from workers and consumers are designed to push the limit of prohibited practices. We will equip New Yorkers with new tools to take on predatory companies, bad landlords, scammers, and other actors who exploit them.

The motorist community needs to clean up its act, especially if drivers expect taxpayers to keep building car lanes.

Today was the third day in a row I came within a yard of a car hitting me while I was walking in a crosswalk, and today was way too close. I realize we have some drivers out there, but I think we need to ban cars until we can figure out what's going on.

It’s always silly when judges insist that they are magically nonpartisan and have no political beliefs, but it’s especially funny when you have a long track record of saying things like “ANY REPUBLICAN IS BETTER THAN ANY DEMOCRAT” (all caps in original)

Look. There is a reason that Sisyphus is, for many, the patron saint of activism. You will never reach the summit. The point is the climb. And once in a glorious, rare while, the boulder rolls back downhill… and stops a centimeter higher than it started.

Here's the thing--rather than replace Flock with the company that wants to put taser on drones, why don't we just spend all this money on addressing the root causes of crime and not just creating a massive surveillance theater stalking machine.
