Laws are a threat made by the dominant socioeconomic ethnic group in a given nation. It’s just the promise of violence that’s enacted, and the police are basically an occupying army, you know what I mean?

if anyone can give me a VPN solution that works or free feed to watch the NASCAR international feed so I don’t have to watch commercials I will venmo you $20 — I’m at my limit for political ads I’ve tried NZ ThreeNow and UK Premier Sports but both recognize my VPN. #NASCAR

I appreciate F1 occasionally using the car number graphic this week instead of the team graphic for all us dumb Americans who only know NASCAR (even though car numbers are almost never referenced in the broadcast and it’s not actually helpful for anyone) #F1 #COTA

🧵 Matt Yglesias is one of the biggest reasons the Democratic Party leadership is so feckless, cowardly, and lazy. I'm not exaggerating. Yglesias is often a featured speaker at private Democratic Party events, despite almost always being wrong. Let's discuss...

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

As we approach the midterms, remember that the Alt National Park Service is a merch sales operation claiming without evidence to be a group of federal employees, and is not a genuine source of news about elections of any kind. Please get your election info from a local, reputable source.

“i pay tax before, but still pay tax now?” We spoke with dozens of half-literate morons about the machinations of local governance. Here’s what they’re saying.

Politico@politico.com

“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

Coach Taylor probably would have been a Trump voter at least once, but I do think he would vote for Talarico

Part of the answer to "how did we get here?" is that many major journalists—since 1998, Crawford has covered SCOTUS for PBS, ABC, and CBS—are lying bigots. Here Crawford is praising a guy who asked a dumb racist question, glitched out when asked why, then admitted he wanted a Christian theocracy.

Apparently at around 1:30 PM ET, the main accounts for the No Kings coalition on Instagram were frozen and pulled down. Admins have lost access to the account and are unable to log in. This happened at the peak of the organization's national day of action. Instagram, of course, is owned by Meta.

Kroger just announced the largest layoffs in its history, with plans to cut 3,000 employees as it ramps up use of AI. Reminder that Kroger has spent $12.3B on stock buybacks since 2019 and paid its CEO $14M last year — 417x its median worker's pay. AI is turbo-charging corporate greed.

Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

You know, the thing is, I had drafted this piece a month ago, and then never published it, because I thought maybe it was too mean.

I don’t disagree with Stella that Lando shouldn’t have made that move, but some of his statements today about the championship implications are ridiculous. Team strategy has cost them way more than Lando’s move did (which was actually pretty marginal and not egregious) #F1 #Mclaren

The NYPD just released surveillance video of the ICE shooting (which occurred off camera). Two men in civilian clothes run up to a car with guns drawn. One second later, one man begins smashing the butt of his gun into the driver’s side window. The driver appears to panic and hit the gas.
