I felt I really needed to write about Rowling's essay, not because it's new, but because it's so poisonous and ugly that it felt like sanitizing her not to acknowledge it on my trans news site.
There's no pretense left. J. K. Rowling made her hate for trans women clear in a slur-filled screed slurring them a dozen times and describing them as deceitful and dangerous.
So writes @evanurquhart.bsky.social this morning on Assigned Media.
*WARNING: Article quotes Rowling's hateful language.*
Of all the bbc presenters, Webb’s politics are the easiest to read - because he puts them in newspapers and doesn’t even try to hide them in broadcasts
His politics are also mind numbingly predictable
Mohammed Qomsan is a civil servant in #Gaza. He finally got accepted into a university scholarship program in Italy; this could be his chance to leave Gaza & start a new chapter in his life. He’s transparent & legit. Follow here: www.tiktok.com/t/ZPLA3L9GW/ repost

I have been detained by Israeli security forces all day. Along with with MPs Clive Lewis, Lara Bird, MSP Kate Nevans, former MP Sam Tarry and campaigners from across the world, we were turned back because they don’t want anyone seeing their ethnic cleansing.
8 people lost an eye
2 had their faces shattered and needed extension reconstruction surgery
5 had limbs amputated
14 more had life changing injuries
Imagine the outrage if ONE of these injuries happened to the French Police
But they do this and not one charge against them
Oxfam report:
The super-rich profit from the pollution driving climate breakdown, and then cash in again on the disasters it causes.
No profit without accountability.
www.theguardian.com/environment/...
Super-rich get ‘double dividend’ from causes and costs of climate crisis.
They profit from polluting industries, and through the ‘adaptation economy’.
Super-rich buy govts, control means of production and think tanks.
Victims pay higher prices for food, homes, relocations.
Who governs?
Labour now briefing young people won't get the same minimum wage uplift.
Even Starmer didn't break this pledge. Workers rights mean same rights, pay & conditions, same rate for the same job.
What does this Labour government have against young people?

An immediate reaction is to say the Albanese government has learned nothing from #robodebt.
But perhaps they have learned only too well how to punch down on welfare recipients with onerous, cruel and illegal conditions. #poverty#inequality#RaiseTheRate#auspol
Why does the government insist on trying to recover blood from a stone?
If they want to aggressively recover so-called debts from people who've relied on Centrelink payments, they should at least wait until they can actually afford to live.
@kristin8x.antipovertycentre.org on the latest debt BS
Just listen to this.
Then consider these polls:
76% of Jewish Israelis think there are no innocents in Gaza (Aug 2025)
82% support expelling Palestinians from Gaza (May 2025)
47% support killing all inhabitants of conquered enemy cities (May 2025)

This is not a "you didn't KNOW?" post because I truly envy and respect anyone unaware of Linehan's output BUT he's been EXTREMELY racist for years now. Attacking black actors on his wife's show Motherland as diversity hires; podcast screeds about muslims in Ireland; delighting in Palestinian deaths.
You don't need that Starbucks latte.
12,000 baristas have organized. They've spent years fighting for a fair first contract. They're demanding better pay, more hours, safe staffing and basic protections.
Support the workers, not the corporation stonewalling them.
Boycott Starbucks!
I think it doesn't reflect well on the BBC that one its leading presenters is allowed to write an 'analysis' for a highly partisan newspaper which includes lines like "Racial minorities, worshipped by white Democrats" www.dailymail.com/news/article...
"The Most Racist Election in Israel’s History"
If Netanyahu stays, Israel will become a pariah state – so the Israeli establishment is doing everything it can to ensure that he loses. But a Gadi Eisenkot victory won’t help Palestinians either, writes Peter Oborne for Zeteo UK:
“While each of us (voted Brexit) for different reasons, we all believed that the UK could do a better job of running its own affairs than *unelected officials* in Brussels could."
Ben Houchen... November 2020

Since his ennoblement in Boris Johnson’s 2023 resignation list, Tees Valley regional mayor Lord (Ben) Houchen has claimed more than £25,000 in tax-free daily “attendance” allowances from the House of Lords for 73 days when he hasn’t voted, spoken or performed any recorded parliamentary activity.
Ali Fortescue to Ellie Chowns on the group Greens4Palestine: "This group obviously has a big influence over your partys direction... do you think they should be kicked out of the party?"
Can you imagine a journalist asking, should Labour Friends of Israel be kicked out of Labour? Of course you cant
UN report: "The Israeli authorities and forces have committed the crimes against humanity of extermination, torture, rape and other forms of sexual violence in the West Bank, as well as persecution based on intersecting discriminatory grounds, with nationality, race and ethnicity at its core."
Either the EU comes out with their own report that evidences the UN one is wrong, or they accept the findings and back UN action. No more sitting on the fence (supporting Israel's war crimes).

No surprise that this got hardly any mainstream coverage. #GazaGenocidewww.nine.com.au/world-news/m...
I’m seeing people reacting by pointing out that he’s obviously wrong. I appreciate that, but it’s also a pointless exercise.
The problem isn’t that he’s wrong. The problem is that this is normal in American politics — and it’s been normal for a while.

108 govt contracts in 2026, worth £650m. Friends in high places.
I honestly don't understand why this keeps happening. Normal working people are being fleeced by corporate greed in every conceivable way, and successive governments keep tinkering around the edges with this trivial nonsense.
I mean, gherkins and marmalade? Seriously?
Jon Kay to Jonathan Reynolds: "You're planning to remove import taxes from products like chocolate, gherkins, marmalade. Your own figures say that will save the average household 40p a week. At a time when [bills] are going up, do you really think people are going to notice 40p a week?"
Imagine a world where we are no longer dependent on oil and nuclear energy.
It's coming and it's better and that's why the vested interests are doing everything in their power to stop it
Solar has overtaken nuclear. A decade ago it supplied 1% of the world's power. In 2025 it met three quarters of global demand growth.
Almost nobody saw it coming. I spoke to Jocelyn Timperley at BBC Future about why.
