As a follow up to the @localfirstconf.com we are doing a unofficial local-first meetup in Cologne on the 15th of October. Maybe this can be a regular event where we can exchange knowledge? The two talks are to get the conversations started. If you are interested in joining, feel free to contact me.

@adamwiggins.com I just want to say thank you for all the effort you put into the conference. I was nervous presenting in front of so many people I respect but really appreciated the care you and the other organizers put into creating a welcoming atmosphere. I hope to see you all again next year!

Thanks incognitothief @whereditgo.diamonds for spinning on main stage at Lab Day. I have to check whether we got audio / video recordings. We can plan ahead for #AtmosphereConf if you’re up for it

My DJ style... I am not a very good DJ. There is no proper way to mix. I bring other things. The music. jagged approach. places I am not supposed to be. I am just a beatmaker recounting. Or equivalent of a graffiti artist. Not a DJ

I wrote up my talk at @localfirstconf.com as a blogpost The AT Protocol is a high-scale network by design. It works by codifying proven architectures into a protocol. If you've ever used kafka to connect some backend services, then you basically know how atproto works.

pfrazee.leaflet.pubStarting from scale in the design of the AT ProtocolBluesky was founded in 2022 to produce a protocol which Twitter could adopt. The product goals changed, but the requirements didn't.

we, at anytype.io almost fell into implementation of global p2p rabbit hole back then and resisted the urge by miracle. After the talk Brendan gave at @localfirstconf.com it feels like we've dodged a bullet haha. And now we can just plug it!

there is a straight line from my @recurse.com batch in 2023 to speaking in front of ~400 people—including many personal and professional heroes—at @localfirstconf.com. plus three years of learning, making friends (both online and off) and having a blog that i'm actually proud of. apply for a batch!

Had a fantastic time at @localfirstconf.com. Started off relatively stark with discussions acknowledging the general political instability of our times and how much data sovereignty matters. Ended with an absolutely wild demo of @inkandswitch.com's patchwork project. Lots of good bits in between.

3rd year at @localfirstconf.com What keeps me coming back isn't the talks -- it's that the same faces keep showing up, and they're slowly turning into friends Feels less like a conference, more like a movement working to elevate user agency with software
